Lauterbrunnen Valley News
Hello everybody.

Do to the negative press regarding BASE Jumping in Lauterbrunnen and also the rising discontentedness of the Lauterbrunnen Farmers that own the landing fields in Lauterbrunnen, we "refunded" the SBA in order to have an organ for the communication between the affected parties in Lauterbrunnen (Lauterbrunnen Tourism and Landowners) and the BASE Jumpers.

We already had a meeting with the land owners and Lauterbrunnen Tourism some time ago.

The meeting was very positive. It seems like nobody is having a problem with the jumping in Lauterbrunnen, in contrary, the people think it brings tourism to Lauterbrunnen. The only people that feel a negative impact are the land owners. There land is damaged and they don't get any compensation for this.

We introduced a solution to them and they are happy with it.

We will sell a Landing Card valid for one Year (December previous year until January following year) to every jumper who wants to jump in Lauterbrunnen. The price of this card is CHF 20.—for one year.

The Swiss BASE Association landing card entitles you to use the designated landing areas in the valley, these will be marked with a wind sock.

The landing card costs 20 Swiss francs, is valid for one year and covers the main landing areas for Yellow Ocean, La Mousse and The Nose.

It can be purchased in the Horner Pub or the Tourist Information.

BASE Lauterbrunnen Registration

To purchase the card you have to fill the form provided on http://www.basejumper.ch. The old SBA website www.subterminal.ch will be redirected soon.

Only with the fields marked * are required.
However, the SBA would like to gather some statistical data about jumping in the valley,
so we ask each Jumper to take the time to fill in the form completely and truthfully.

Thank you.

The data will be kept confidential and details of experience and equipment will only be used anonymously.
The rescue services only have access to relevant data.

To make it easier for everybody please fill the form at home before you visit Lauterbrunnen. Let the Horner team or the Tourist Information know when you arrive and the card will be ready for you.
Otherwise you may have to wait a day to get it. (no problem jumping in the possible waiting time, no BASE police around....Wink )

Please everybody, get this card. Its cheap, and the solution for many problems.

Thank you

Moritz

Good Idea Moritz

for 20 CHF landing fee and the 30 CHF insurance we can still use one of the worlds wonders and do it without getting in trouble.

Im very keen on seeing the results of the registration. I have during the years thaught a lot about how to collect data about the jumpers in Lauterbrunnen. Id like to know how many jumps that could be done in one yar. how many jumpers and if there is an accident it should be documented fully

This could give the base schene a lot of information due to the research that is being done at the moment

thanks Moritz

Re: [BASE_1007] Lauterbrunnen Valley News
So do I read the statistic right when I assume that the fatality rate is about 1/1000 jumps? I took the last two years with 3 fatalities each.

No! Wrong!
this is just the data of the first 57 registered jumpers. this data is collected in the last two weeks.
you can do this calculation next january when we have data from the whole year!

Re: [BASE_1007] Lauterbrunnen Valley News
Ah okey thanks. I thought that would have been very high.
So what is that total expected jump number? Total jumps those 57 jumpers expect to make in Lauterbrunnen this year or total they made last year or what?

in the registration form we ask:

In reply to:
This year I will do about _____ jumps in the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

its 57 x average of this data.

Re: [BASE_1007] Lauterbrunnen Valley News
Hey Moritz.

THis statistical analysis, is the key to a lot of knowledge. Lauterbrunnen is one of the only places (except Kjerag) where we can have a chance to picture the actual base scene.

If we can view this in a year and if all jumpers actually fill the form we can have a lot of new and important inforation.

Is there a plan how to inform the Russian and the French BASE-scene? They migh thave there own BASE-societies and forums.

great Job!
Shortcut
Re: [MartinRosen] Lauterbrunnen Valley News
The french are informed via the forum of the french base association.
To inform the russians is a bit more complicated. Maybe Yuri can help us there if he is not jumping or diving somewhere in the world... :-)
Shortcut
Re: [Mikki_ZH] Lauterbrunnen Valley News
Im sure there are other russians on this Forum.... though the amount of people traveling to LB is hard to cover. Maybe some russians and Ucrainian guys can get this information to the others.

Im very happy for this registration form, something I have looked for a long time.

Now I need some kind of registration or logging system to count all jumpers and all jumps in the valley...

Ive asked Air Glacier, but they thaugh tit was to much work to do this.... welll. maybe there is another way.
