Low Tards
Has anyone done/seen any really low TARDS, like 100' or so?
I have a neat little 105' "A" near me and although I've done several s/l's at this height before, I know with this object if I do this I'm gonna hit the bushes and not reach the good landing area. With another 20' or so I'd clear the crap and get a good flight down to a nice landing spot (the A is on a step in a very steep hillside). Thinking that if the tard will get me flying faster I'll do that, otherwise just take my chances s/l with the spiky bushes. All my (40'ish) tards so far have been off taller stuff and I have no real idea of how much height it takes, although obviously people talk about them being uber-fast. Practical reports if anyone has them please...
Of course, being a tard it won't be a BASE jump, but still fun... (waiting for fire to commence...)
Thanks in advance,

Re: [weathergirl] Low Tards
OK, I apologise, I did that in the wrong order. Now searched these forums and found lots of info...
Still happy to hear from those who've tried it though.

If done correctly, the Tard should put you open at the same level, sometimes higher, than a PCA/SL.
Good luck

So it took a while, but I got around to it. A short bridle s/l and a good tard, within 20 minutes of each other, from the same exit in the same conditions, on the same canopy, put me in the same bush twice.
Bugger.
Maybe I need to throw the tard higher... (like 50')
Dave.

How is a tard not a base jump? you are jumping off a fixed object with a parachute correct?
