Little Colorado Canyon
I just saw this trip on the APEX site. Can anyone provide a little more info on the legality of the jump? Is this a special deal apex worked out, or is it just impossible to get out of the canyon without a heli.

Reservation land...and Jimmy's the shit. Nuff said. It's legal.

I just like thinking of all the cash the NPS won't get. Mmmmm.

Send him a pm.

It's a long and deep canyon. A helicopter is definitely the FASTEST and most fun way out, but long hikes can also get you out depeding on where you jump. The APEX trip is expensive at first glance, but when you consider that it's a helicopter supported trip, AND it provides all the food, lodging, etc., it's really pretty reasonable!

If you get a chance to go on this trip, DO IT!

The land is owned by the Navajo, and it's not difficult or expensive to get a day use permit from them. Please be sure that you follow all the rules and requests of the Navajo tribe! Practice LNT ethics, and look out for the cactus.

Does anyone have the details of this trip. I'm usually on the email list for this stuff, but I just heard about the Little Colorado heliboogie recently. Where are people flying into? How is the weather in AZ in May?

You'd better call Jimmy and see if there's any room. Last I heard it was pretty full so get off your ass.

Yeah, I'm wondering what the river might be flowing that time of the year, as I heard Lake Powell is suppose to be up 50 ft. after this past epic winter.
- and what about the Western Diamondback, are there many of those around ? I heard they can get a little frisky in the Spring ?
