OSP

Just read about the great performance the new OSP canopy put in at the German indoor event. Once it gets out to users it will be interesting to hear how it compares to the current best canopies.

Do you have link to any info on it? Always curious to read about what's coming down the pipe.

Re: [tr027] OSP
the osp is manufactured by atair! the canopy was designed as a mostly slider down canopy but can also be used for terminal jumps.
the top skin of the canopy is at the nose (except the outside cells) made out of zp. that works like a slat (there are slots where the air can get out). therefore the airflow stays with the topskin of the canopy much longer. there are also small stabilizers at the bottom skin between the center cell and the cell to the right and left. the canopy has a really really great performance on deep brakes, which is perfect for really small landing areas.
i can totally recommend the osp. it's a great canopy that opens and flies awesome Cool

Re: [tr027] OSP
canopy has ticker profile and it is designed for sl down and sub terminal jumps as priority. has larger bottom skin vent system and slat system on top leading edge... also shorter lines...

non of this two.
OSP is designed for Slider down and subterminal jumps. Terminal are possible but due the specific construction opening is hard.

OSP has ticker profile, Works fantastic on steep approaches and has super solid opening on slider down and subterminal jumps. Also it is very stable and predictable on deep brakes. Lower surface is differently designed than canopies what u can find on the market...The SLAT system on leading edge works great and providing a lot of lift on low speed.
In one word:
TRANGO-specific light weight alpine terminal canopy for tracking or WS.
OSP - slider down & sub terminal canopy
TROLL DW (MDW) overall BASE canopy
Atair canopies just introduces what was for long time common thought of many base jumpers. Specific canopy for specific jumps so that you have no compromises
OSP is beautiful urban canopy, canopy for narrow and small landings , easy to handle in steep approaches with super fast and damn solid openings.

OSP-overall superior parachute Smile

Re: [robibird] OSP
So what does OSP stand for?
Shortcut
Re: [robibird] OSP
Im guessing that youve tested the canopy extensivly

can u tell us what height u were free falling the canopy with
specificly how low u were jumping the canopy with and with what size canopy and pcs
Shortcut
Re: [1072] OSP

I really doubt the canopy will have any affect on what appropriate freefall heights are.

Re: [badenhop] OSP
One low cliff with very bad landing in Slovenia caled OSP.
the name OSP is given to the canopy by his designer and owner of Atair canopies Mr. Stane Krajnc
My ''explanation is also O.S.P. overal superior parachute Smile

It says "MDV STANDARD" in the order form (http://www.basetroll.com/pdf/osp_orderform.pdf).

Re: [robibird] OSP
do OSP react slow on riser input as the Troll DW?
Shortcut
Re: [base386] OSP
The vents on the OSP are supposedly larger according to Stane. You can go to http://www.basetroll.com and e-mail him to find out how much. The cost seems comparable to a BJ w/ZP and black lines.

I checked with Stane, the MDV inlets on the OSP are bigger than on the Troll, it is an error in the manual and will be corrected shortly.

(MDV is included as standard on the OSP.)

Re: [Helmut] OSP
question for those who flew it: what about the full flight glide? Is that lower than a standard troll, or still the same?
Shortcut
Re: [fab777] OSP
similar
Shortcut
Re: [fab777] OSP
i was actually surprised how good it glides if you let it!
it's a really nice canopy.
never jumped a troll, but it feels not much less than my fliks.
(only 20 jumps yet though, none higher than 124m.)
Shortcut
Re: [mr_prick] OSP
did anybody take it to a big delay? Is this really a slammer?
Shortcut
Re: [fab777] OSP
yes it was taken terminal as well.
It should be packed tighter , roll the nose and than is Ok. In general, openings are little bit harder on terminal delays..

I was planning on going to a BlackJack 260, is the OSP better for 500' and under?

Yes, it's better - IF YOU LIKE IT
NO, it's not better - IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT
very subjective

BTW, the "shorter lines" I was told are shorter by..... 4 inches

Re: [vid666] OSP
The huge majority of my jumps are slider off, i'd love to have a crack at one of those. Interesting reading but only one way to tell i'd like it or not.

paying for good gear is like paying for insurance.
when everything goes according to plan, it seems extravagant.
when things go bad, it is money well spent!

gotta have a plan if things go awry...
