Actually, it's just God punishing him for having red hair. Poor bastard was born that way. Nobody knows exactly why it happens, they just know it's gross. Have some God damn respect for yourself TJ, dye your hair.

Watch out everybody, because one night the gingers are gonna be there, and they’re gonna getcha’.

Yep, no surprise there. I'm glad I learned that lesson the easy way by reading it here:

Re: [tr027] "If you keep doing low freefalls, eventually you'll get hurt"
Mmm,

Got heaps of freefalls from about 70 meters. I will not say I am invulnerable, or that a PC cwill always inflate correctly, or that a canopy will get linestretch and open correctly. So, in that way the statement is correct.

However, I feel it is a mute statement. The same is true for doing aerials, pulling low, landing at small places, jumping in higher winds, etc. In short, the statement applies to base as a sport. In the long run, you get hurt.

Slipped on exit, went headlow, offheading, and end cell caught the top of a tree. Dropped me 10-15ft onto my back in almost a sitting position. Compression fractures of T11/T12. Didn't have a spine protector but wouldn't have done much good due to the way I hit.

I'm still kicking myself for not thinking to bring my knees up to rotate myself back to head high. 20/20 hindsight though.

True, but often humanizing these statements can make it more real for other people.

Re: [Tornolf] "If you keep doing low freefalls, eventually you'll get hurt"
Ouch. I can relate with a low freefall story of myself. Dropped toggle when surrounded by buildings. The spine protector did save me however.
And it would behoove you to do something about that hair.

Onto your ass, then, and not your back? I have a hard time believing that any impact that you actually make on your back wouldn't be improved by a back protector...

Good to hear you're okay, though!

Re: [base736] "If you keep doing low freefalls, eventually you'll get hurt"
Yeah, it would be more on my ass than back. I guess upper area of ass, sorta? Impact was more on pelvis than on spine.

Re: [base736] "If you keep doing low freefalls, eventually you'll get hurt"
Compression injuries such as the one Tornolf describes (landing on his Rs full weight from a height) are not greatly helped at all by spine protectors unfortunately.
Impacts on the other hand, make them totally worthwhile and mine has saved me from serious injury on a couple of occasions Unimpressed

What percentage was the compression fractures?

Actually, I'm still not entirely convinced that the entire blame can be laid upon the hair alone. The big hips had to play a part as well, no? Wink

Re: [Tornolf] "If you keep doing low freefalls, eventually you'll get hurt"
In reply to:
end cell caught the top of a tree

So it really wasn't because the jump was low, it was the tree.

Do enough freefalls over trees, eventually you'll get hurt.

a taller tower would have introduced more canopy time.what a gay tower!

I really like what he has to say about aerials here. Something I definitely took too lightly and could have potentially gone wrong.
