Russian children's books
I've been learning Russian for a few months now using Pimsleur Russian, and would like to improve my reading skills. I've been frequenting the Russian Wikipedia and ITAR-TASS websites, but these are just a little above my level right now. Although I can do the translation, I don't really feel like I'm learning much, except possibly improving my fluency with the alphabet and pronunciation.

What I'm looking for are recommendations on Russian children's books that might be read by a first or second grader. In English, this might include things like Dr. Seuss' books. If the books can be purchased online, that would be awesome, but otherwise if you're living in Russia and don't mind helping me out, I'm sure we can arrange something.

Thanks for your help!

Re: [tfelber] Russian children's books
I was planning to go to Russia last summer, but it didn't work out. I'd learned a bit of Russian in preparation for the trip, and found that I really enjoyed learning the language. So when the trip fell through, I just kept going.

Thanks! At this point I'm mainly learning the language for its own sake, but in general I don't like walking into a country not knowing the language. I've done alright in major cities, usually, with that technique, but have had some humbling experiences elsewhere.
