Paris on fire

This was posted on the British site.

Mixed feelings. One hand it is quite a thing to pull off on the other, if there wasn't a video on how to properly burn objects, this is itUnimpressed

Re: [pocbase] Paris on fire
that was SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well played for that pilot. horrible freaking idea for us.

but still, shit, that makes me want to go speed fly off my local sites JUST to piss off the older bitches, and do acro at the non acro sites around here. PG pilots are not all without sin.

I agree - it was sick ... Mad

If someone did this to my local object and posted it all over the net then i'd want to have a 'discussion' with them ...

Whereas i'm all for good jumps and i actually love watching most of the excellent DVD's out there i'm still not sure what purpose youtube serves except for the "look at me" self-glorification egomania that seems to be rampant these days.

I'd have more respect if it was posted on a PG site or put on someone's DVD. I'd also have more respect if it hadn't named every landmark around and "loved" the comment about it being light so the camera would pick up their faces ...

Otherwise how would they have posted it on youtube without making themselves famous ????

Perhaps they could have posted their names and phone numbers at the end so any locals could discuss this and future jumps with them Tongue

Say, wasn't there some other fellow who videotaped himself going off a crane in broad daylight? Whatever did happen to him afterwards... ? Smile

Not sure if you're referring to the T&F incident from way back or something else? Smile

But actually there's tons of video of UK guys doing just that - IN BROAD DAYLIGHT - the only difference was those were legal jumps from an object that had been hired by the jumpers and was only there for the duration of the jumps ...

The jumpers also all gave permission for the camera's to be there for the purpose of "promoting the image" of our sport.

Great lengths were taken to show the high level of safety and care involved ...

I do believe that this has also been an incident-free event since it's inception - the kudos for that excellent safety record should be given to the organisers ... No mean feat considering some of the numpties that they have to work with TongueTongueTongue

As they say in the movies "no objects were harmed during the shooting of this movie" ... TongueTongueTongue

Yes but there's a major difference between self publicity and self glorification ...

The fact that you are able to make such a post demonstrates a level of reasoning and humour ...

And as far as i know you don't publicly burn sites in order to gain your own publicity or gratification.

But then again - i might be making lots of assumptions and you could just be a self centered ego-maniac ... TongueTongueTongueTongue

I tend to agree with you. I just do not know much about paragliding etiquette. how is this viewed in that world?

sadly, the jumpers were NOT speaking French... (only LOCALS should be burning objects!)
