articulated harness
Hi

I'm planning to buy my first base harness. probably the perigee pro from Asylum... What do you think... aticulated or not??? option worth the 105$ ?

My skydive harness is not articulated and I can live with it! so, what about a base one???

thank's for the info!

and... if you have some option that you really like... thank's to talk about it! I prefer to know before I order!

the options is just that - option. Some people think it's more comfortable, other people feel they have better "Feel" when all the webbing is continuous. It's a personal choice and should not affect how the parachute opens or lands.

I am jumping the Perigee Pro with Articulated Harness. I got the articulation to give me better movement when trying to climb things etc Works well for me.

Re: [dominicc] articulated harness
I'm not really a fan of articulation.

In general, BASE harnesses don't have to be quite as comfortable as skydiving harnesses (because you aren't hanging in them nearly as long). And I've never really liked articulated skydiving harnesses anyway, from a comfort standpoint (they just don't seem that much more comfortable to me--in fact, if they're not fit just right, I find them less comfortable).

There is probably something to be said for range of motion for some exit points (where you have to scramble or crawl onto them), but honestly I don't think it's an issue on 95% of jumps.

Re: [dominicc] articulated harness
The articulation just make some differences (in my stupid opinion) when you´re jumping A´s.
Saddle bags helped me during long hikes.... or SL jumps, you can have some stuff there.

Dynamic corners are nice too, everybody wants to jump big stuff someday......
Depending what you gonna jump more, you order this or that option......

I know very happy people with standart rigs.....

About the vent option on canopies, it´s another question very discussed here in the past.......

Re: [TomAiello] articulated harness
I agree, My current rig is articulated, and i'm probably going to sell it and get non.
Non-articulation is lighter, I find non articulated more comfortable, and my articulated leg straps always slip down my legs when I'm climbing around on shit, which is annoying and dangerous.

agree on all point, i always ordered my rigs as simple as possible..i like it simple in BASE, the only point i can see by ordering articulated harness is that it may be easier to sell it if you have this option..

Re: [dominicc] articulated harness
i really like my saddlebag option. i hate having my cell phone or radio in my pocket with leg straps cinched down. the saddlebags also allow me to carry a small bottle of water which is great on tall A's and hikes out of canyons ext..
my rule of thumb is to get all the bells and whistles when gettin new gear. it helps for resale alot and rigs alway end up costing more than the list price anyway so i just go for broke. thats just me though.
i do feel artic is more comfortable. i dont like when the webbing buckles in crouched posistions. is it worth 105.00? probably not, but neither is 75.00 dollars for black lines on canopies but they sure are purty!!

Re: [livenletfly] articulated harness
I just wear cargo pants so I can take water, cell and more,
majority of the time you gear up at the exit point, only few time's I have climbing up A with the gear on, I have articulated and non-articulated I rally cant tell the difference, some one told me they like it because of acrobatic, gainer and all the other stuff, I have not made any gainer or any other so I don't know, if you got the money get it, but I think less metal you can have is best for base jumping (specially shining one like stainless ) it really dose not make much difference I think
now if you got 5000 ft E and you want to do some two way sit flying than yea I like to have articulated

Who the heck charged you that? I've never seen a canopy where the black lines option cost even half that much.

Re: [TomAiello] articulated harness
Maybe misread from asylum website. The option goes for $75 on the ace and BJ. I have one of each harness and dont really notice the difference that much. One thing ive noticed on some articulated skydiving harnesses is that they can squeak, but I havent had that on my base rig. Ive only jumped articulated when I do more tucked aerials, so I guess that could be different, but I dont know.

I've never stood on the edge of any object thinking, I wish I would have got the articulated harness.

Hearing it squeak, especially when uncurrent, is somewhat reassuring.

Trust me, it's not my harness that squeaks!!

Re: [Rover] articulated harness
Yes, that also. I have two rigs: a normal Perigee pro made for me that fits like it was made for me because it was made for me so that's why it fits so well; and an articulated gargoyle ws extreme i got second hand. With the gargoyle for some reason it's always a matter of walking around with a high pitched, squeaky voice after tightening the leg straps...
