PERMIT TO JUMP
From discussions on the Baseboard, the NPS has to respond to any and all permit requests. Of course, they'll probably turn you down. But it's worth a try and if we overwhelm them with requests, perhaps it'll provide some support to our fight for access. Be polite and professional in your requests. Send your request to jump El Capitan, Half Dome, or other cliffs in the park to:

Wilderness Permits
P.O. Box 545
Yosemite, CA 95389
(209) 372-0740

or to film a BASE jump:

Filming Permits P.O. Box 700
El Portal, CA 95318
(209) 379-1854

Re: [jadeinthesky] PERMIT TO JUMP
did we not know this for many years?

not a bad idea to keep reposting it at all, but hasn't this been known for awhile?

Re: [Calvin19] PERMIT TO JUMP
Knowing and Doing are two different things.
I know that this may not directly change the laws.
But if we Do it as much as we can maybe they will see that this is a sport to a lot of people and that it's not going to go away.

Imagine 2000 permit apps a month sitting on the desk of some nps rangerLaugh and they have to reply 2000 times

If they were smart they would realize the potential for revenue for the park and the surrounding areas
Look at twin falls....

I know im not saying anything new but it feels good to say it. It's so frustrating to have such a treasure in your backyard and not be able to use it.

Re: [jadeinthesky] PERMIT TO JUMP
Zion never replied to my permit request, they never cashed my check though, either. It's bee almost 6 months now...

I sent it certified with copies to two different entities within the NPS. I KNOW they got it.

Re: [diveout] PERMIT TO JUMP
maybe if they got 1999 more apps that month they would have paid more attention.

Re: [jadeinthesky] PERMIT TO JUMP
divouts app and payment has the same sad story of other jumpers apps and checks. plus if i put 24 months of $50 permit fee with no results that would be $1200, if they cashed them with a DENIAL!. that would cover the gas there to jump 12 days a year once a month. (3.5 hour drive).
In order to turn the NPS we need a congresman or senator to bat for us. to hard from theoutside.

good luck kiddos

Re: [Calvin19] PERMIT TO JUMP
well i guess the question is this. how many folks have applied for a permit? i mean actually sent one in and received a reply vs. how many just listened to the hype. i've not been in the sport very long but i only know one or two people who've done this process.

so to all the guys/girls that have been around a while what do you think? have there been a good number of folks go through the process and get rejected? how may permits do you think have been submitted in the past five years?

"In order to turn the NPS we need a congressman or senator to bat for us"

How about trying to get the help of a certain ex-CIA director / ex-president that likes to skydive? Also he could get his boy "The Pres" to do his voodoo. Just throw in some cash, more free tandems w/ video, and maybe a free BASE FJC at the bridge.

Re: [TowerTopper] PERMIT TO JUMP
As I have a certain level of respect for 41 (tech. 40, do some research if you really want to know), 43 is a lame duck at this point. he is actually more, rather less than that. I know it seems a long long way off, bit in a mere 410ish days away we WILL have a new head of state. Start getting into what the next pres has to offer. vote. the way it is supposed to be.
