Mapping
If you have used GoogleEarth, Mapquest, or another GIS contraption you might enjoy this one.

www.maps.live.com

One reason I really like this is due to the "BirdsEye View". You can use this by zooming into the area in which you are focusing on.

Such as your local A. Then click on the "Birds Eye View". This will change the Orthographic(like you are looking down) map to an Off-Nadir(like you are looking at an angle) map. This gives you a chance to see height at a different perspective.

Another great thing is when at your local city(hopefully its LA, NYC, or another big city) because you can zoom into a specific block and click the 3-D icon. You will be prompted to download a tool, but once you have it downloaded you can see heights of buildings and other buildings near. They do not draw them to scale but, measure them by using the remote sensing of energy. They can be more accurate than the sophisticated, yet easy to manipulate, Google SketchUp buildings.

One thing to note: DO NOT BE FOOLED! You can NOT see trees and tree heights!!! Many materials such as telephone poles, trees, etc are around. They are not shown because they have only turned on certain frequencies (those of the buildings and building materials during their data collection).

This is just another tool in the toolbox!

Happy Hunting!
