Tom Aiello gave a name to something we, at first didn’t see, or at least ignored, for a long time.

Call it the luck bucket, or karma, or it’s just your time to live or die, but it is what it is.

And so far I haven't seen any reason to believe otherwise.

And it's that existence of the "luck bucket" that keeps me scared (in proportion) no matter how much experience I have or how "easy" something is.

Something about the fact I can't see how much is left in the bucket.

I thought it was dwain that had the quote about.. you start off with a full bucket of luck and an empty one of skill and you gotta make sure you fill up your skill bucket before the luck one runs out?

Some background for ya. I have 9 skydives on 9-cells, all of the rest are on 7-cells. Of course, all 96 of my Base jumps are on 7-cells. I had 10 CRW jumps before I had to sell my Lightning due to finacial problems. I've taken Scott Miller's basic canopy course twice, and Brian Germain's course once.

I'm not surprised I got hurt. I am surprised I made it to 96 jumps before it happened. I wish I had the natural talent that you and others have, but I don't. I do the best I can. I probably shouldn't Base jump, or Skydive, for that matter.

But, unlike it has been said, that people Base jump so that can get close to death. I would rather be dead or crippled than not Base jumping.

that wasn't meant to insult, sounds like it might've.... it was a comment on the mentality of refilling the luck bucket. I think that's an improper focus.

I just thought you were being honest. Although, it may have seemed like it, I wasn't upset or anything. I just like to throw the chips on the table every now and again.
