PCA mishap
Well, almost 2 weeks ago I snapped my right ring finger into a few pieces PCA'ing someone off an object. Somehow a piece of the PC snagged my finger and pulled it sideways a little too far. I was holding the PC lightly. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

How you were PCA'ing the person? (the method)

And that looks painful! Sorry to hear about that!

Re: [n_pertuset] PCA mishap
holding bridle tight to extract canopy and holding the PC loose at the top in a mushroom.
It wasn't that painful. I actually snapped it back into place and then did a tard from the object. It was then splintered ( kinda ) hospital next day and surgery day after. Fist base injury and I wasn;t even jumping.

I have had bridle burns almost every time I don't use a glove, otherwise (incidently at the same object) I have had my forearm smashed into the railing. I discovered that the easiest thing to do is hang your arms out as far and as high as possible. Also I PCA the same way, but I don't hold the PC above my bridle arm - I hold it to the side and level - after the bridle gets pulled from my hand I just let go the PC so I dont fuck up the symmetry. Keep in mind I do not let go of the bridle until it gets pulled from my hand - so at this point I don't believe the PC would do anything.

Sure thing.

So, can you still climb with this glorious battlewound of yours? Or more importantly, can you pull?

Guess your left hand is going to get some attention now, huh?

Re: [Bryguy1224] PCA mishap
Thats why whenever I have to pca someone, I usually just let it go alltogether when they step off the object. Hell, it gives them more of a thrill and protects my little woman touchers!

Or, if he's got bandages on it and has some painkillers, he can just do 'the stranger' Wink

You really should kick the crap out of the guy you PCAed

I lost track of how many times I got Ody'fied.

Keep coming back for more though...

Re: [base935] PCA mishap
Getting Ody'fied is just part of Base. If you jump long enough it's bound to happen to you at some point. And you're right. When it does happen you just roll with it and keep coming back for more.

It appears my Ody'fication extends beyond the karma implications from my PC breaking his finger... Somehow his Tee Shirt http://www.tshirthell.com/...ct.php?productid=330, was in my stash bag!

I am auctioning it off to the highest bidder. All money will go to the ody'fier, to pay for his damn finger. I pay shipping... Minimum bid, $25. Of course, he may bid too and keep his own money - perhaps driving up the price beyond the 5 cents it is worth.

For an extra $5 I won't wash off the beer spills from the strip club it was last worn at by someone who apparently gets Ody'fied often.

Re: [Bryguy1224] PCA mishap
Hi Bryan,

Can you please elaborate on how the PC could catch your finger? I mean, the only possibility I can imagine is the it was close to binding tape between the nylon and the mesh.

When I do PCA's, I do not hold the PC in a mushroom, but take the top op the PC and let it hang loose, downwards. I also don't let go of the PC once the bridle is pulled out of my other hand. That way, the bridle pulls the pins/velcro and I hold the PC till I see full line stretch.

He should answer too, but since I watched him PCA two people before me, I had a 3rd party view on his technique.

Unless he did something different on my PC, nothing looked "finger breaking" in his technique. He told me he thought the fabric, when snatched out of his hand, somehow whipped around and hit his finger. I don't think he knows exactly how it happened.

Lesson learned - play with your PC holding technique such that you keep your fingers out of the fabric should the fabric whip around, up, or down, on the snatch....

"holding the PC loose at the top in a mushroom."
Nothing should be above your hand. Always do U-Turns with the U upside down.

I would love to see that!!! I have the distinct feeling that this might not end so well and Ody would Ody'fy himself.....again

Re: [icarusfx99] PCA mishap
everything was below me during the PCA. I extracted the canopy to line stretch from the bridle not the PC. I helt onto the PC lightly with nothing above my hand. I really think it was just a fluke thing. In due time I will Odify you or someone you know. It will be calles the 6 degrees of Odification.

Re: [Bryguy1224] PCA mishap
I had the same thing happen on my first PCA off a building many moons ago. I was holding the bridle in my left hand and the PC in my right. When I dropped the bridle the pc snagged my right ring finger and either slammed it into side or broke the shit out of it. I ended up with a finger pointing 90 degrees to the right, which in my panic I set it my self. I could still open and close my hand, so I elected to jump anyway :)

Doctor said it was a very nice job setting it.

Ouch.... Dude... If it makes you feel any worse, that PC was used, without breaking your finger, on some real cool stuff lately... Lifewithoutanet owns that PC, but I have not given it back to him yet.

Seriously... Wow... You doing alright? Full recovery, I hope soon?
