Re: [ArmitageShanks] Troll DW?
Troll: No Bottom skin vents.

Troll MDV: Mono Directional Valves on cells 2,3,5 and 6 (not the center cell or the outside cells)

Troll MDV DW: MDV's on cells 2,3,4,5,6 (everything but the outside cells), with the inlets being smaller than the original MDV configuration, so that the total valve flow area is the same between the two (MDV and MDV DW) models.

Re: [vid666] Troll DW?
thanks!

5 more questions:

-it looks like the troll dw comes with 5 steering line attachment points. is that correct?

-did the regular troll mdv have 4 steering line attachment points?

-is the regular troll mdv still available, or did the dw supersede it entirely?

-is it better?

-if you weigh 190lbs naked, and rate yourself a 4.5 out of 10 as a canopy pilot (some days you make it to 6 or 7, other days you feel like a 2) would you buy a 265 (280) or 285 (301)? for - say - moab type jumps...

I believe so. But I think you can ask for 4, as an option. In any event, it's a simple matter to remove one, test fly it for a while, and then decide for yourself if you want it.

The original Troll had 4 upper control lines. The change to 5 came around the same time as the MDV option was added. I'm not certain if it was part of the upgrade, but I think it was just a separate change.

I have no idea. Since the introduction of the DW configuration, I wouldn't want the original 4 MDV configuration.

That's obviously going to be a matter of opinion. My personal opinion is that the DW (5 valves) configuration is an improvement over the old 4 valve configuration.

285.

As far as I know original Troll is still available and some jumpers prefer old configuration without valves for slider-up jumps.
Contact Troll manufacturer anyway.

Re: [ArmitageShanks] Troll DW?
if you really rate your canopy skill as 4.5 out of 10 you should think abut not what size of canopy to buy but more skydiving doing accuracy and get your skill up to abut 6or 7 than make anothe 20 to 30 jump at TF, than think about making a base jump at moab, you can get injured easily base jumping in moab and it is long ride to hospital there.

good, sound advice! I was thinking along those same lines! In truth, if your canopy skills are under a 6 minimum, you're taking a real big gamble with a possible injury every time you get off an object IMHO.

I have Troll MDV from 2003. (not DW) with 5 valves 5 upper steering lines and some kind of multi (just 2 point) which I don't see on others trolls

Re: [Mr-B] Troll DW?
Did you buy it new or used? Are all 5 valves the same size? Is it possible it is some kind of prototype canopy?

Re: [ArmitageShanks] Troll DW?
If I felt that my canopy skills were that bad I'd be spending my money on a skydiving canopy class and canopy coaching and lots more skydives instead of a new BASE canopy.
