When I first read this post I about busted a gut laughin' because I thought one of you boys were being silly and starting rumors. IDOT has never restricted jumping to BASE Jumpers. But then I thought to myself you better check yourself before you wreck yourself! So I just got off the phone with a friend from IDOT. He says that as of right now there's NO restrictions to BASE Jumpers jumping off the bridge for any repairs. He did however give me some advice that I didn't particularly ask for. He said firmly that NO ONE should be tying anything off to the bridge or putting anything on it (stickers, etc). He informed me that the bungee jumpers will not be allowed to use that bridge anymore and that IDOT will strictly enforce this rule (oouch). He said that they are bending the railing and some of them have to be replaced. He said as of now there is no restrictions to the BASE Jumpers. So... food for thought here. If you're doing anything that might stress the the railing ( standing on it, putting out big ass platforms, static lines, etc.) you might want to rethink your options. I have noticed several areas on the railing were the top part of it is quite loose. It would be a bit of a bummer if the man decides that we're tearing up the railing just like those pesky little bungee jumpers. Soo... in my opinion it would be best treat this site with "kid gloves" that way bodies can keep falling from it for years to come. But then again - what the hell do I know!

WHOA!!!!
ok, Jamie, if i read that correctly, the Perrine is closed for Bungee jumping? or is it only closed for bungee jumping that uses the railing as an anchor?
(anyone useing the perrine bridge pedestrian railing to anchor HIGH LOAD LIFE LINES OF ANY KIND is a fucking moron, Trust me. period.) I have never seen a bungee operation at potato, I always assumed they used the concrete dividers?!?! holy shit, that railing is NOT in any way a good thing to anchor a large dynamic load to. Amatures.
