In cooperation with the Bridge Day Commission, the local Chamber of Commerce, the State of West Virginia, and a few others, Vertical Visions is renting an "expensive" satellite truck to broadcast Bridge Day 2007 out to any TV network that wants the feed. So far, CNN, FOX, and the Weather Channel will air live jumps on Bridge Day morning and throughout the day via cameras located at the jumper exit point. In addition, CNN will be airing live interviews with jumpers from the exit platform early in the morning.

If you can't attend Bridge Day, at least you can watch some of the action on TV.

Also, if you haven't heard, we've got a portable wind tunnel at the Holiday Inn on Thursday and Friday. We're gonna have a lot of fun this year! Cya.

I reserved a room at Holiday Inn for the 19th and 20th. I won't be able to use it and there are no refunds at this stage. I paid $145 plus tax per night. Not sure how to capture it, sorry. You could always pause it and do a screen grab (alt-print screen).

Keep in mind that the CNN online video was only a small part of what aired Saturday morning on live TV around the world. Headline News also carried some video.

I've ripped streaming video before - but can't remember the name of the shareware/freeware program I used. Do a Google search on ripping/downloading streaming video and eventually you'll find a program that saves the video to your hard drive as it plays. Then you can do what you wish with the file it saved.

It's been a couple years since I did it - so I'm sure there's even more programs available.

 
A user called Zee has left a new comment on this post detailing his method of downloading news video clips from CNN (they are actually flash video flv files)

Reproducing the trick here:

1) clean up the "temporary internet files" folder

2) open Internet explorer and go to the page where the desired video clip is located and let the steaming video run (its usually choppy as it is downloading the file and playing at the same time)

3) once the clip is finished playing (and downloading), go back to the "Temporsry internet files" folder find the relevant for the video (which has.FLV extension) and copy it to another folder on my hardrive whre I want it saved.

4) and voila! you are done, and you can play the video anytime using the free FLV player whoch was mentioned in the original method. Easy. No software to download!
