Base in Mexico
Hey , I was wondering if anyone could help me out with some info about sites in Mexico. I know most of them are pretty technical, but a drive down to mexico is alot cheaper then a plane ticket to europe.

Hello

Mexico , well Mexico has its'a advantages and disadvantages but If I mention a couple of the most important they are :

Advantage:
We can pretty much jump any earth and bridge site without being hazzled by anyone, no rangers or anything like that in México you just hike jump land and have a beer.

Sounds great doesn't it? NOT !!

Disadvantage:
Mexico as it's a 3rd world country lacks some of the great benefits 1st world countries have.
So let's say you just jump this incredible 2000 feet sheer wall with a great landing area but somehow you have an accident... that's when you are screwed.

First many of our sites are hours away from the cities, sometimes in small towns they only have small clinics not big hospitals those are just in big cities, also there is no phone reception in most that I have been. That means no one to call in case of an accident.

Second no heli rescues, we don't have those type of services like Air glaciers in México so if you are hanging from a wall injured you can probably die before "Protección Civil" the Mexican agency that would be in charge of getting you down from the cliff. And if it's a very big cliff they might not even have the equipment to reach you so it might be until a good climbing crew is assembled.

So we only depend on Ground crew to help in case of an accident, even a snake bite could be deadly.

So what I mean by this is that México is like the Wild west you can play but if the sport bites at you... well it could be bad very fast.

That is one of the reasons why I would never Jump el Gigante without a Charter Helicopter in case something happens, if you break a leg or have an exposed fracture and you have to hike out more than 10 hours just to get to the road which is still a couple of hours away from Chihuahua you could die of a broken leg injurie while landing that in similar cases let's say in ITW or Swiss Valley you could be recovering from a landing injury in no more than 4 hours.

So keep in mind that Mexico has great sites I love to jump from all of them , we never jump at night reason we don't have to run from no one (maybe from Coyotes ha ) but our sites require you to be on your game , good experience , even an underhung 3000 wall could be a nightmare if things go wrong.

So you all are welcome to join me but don't say I didn't warned you, nough been said I am planning a Monterrey Trip late November like a 4-5 day trip to jump some great walls, a bridge , a dam , a chimney and an antenna, not sure of the dates at this moment but if interested keep in touch with me for details, it won't be an event or anything just a small group sharing expenses and jumping some great sites if you want to check some of these sites pics enter www.mexbase.com
