The Funny Bone
There are plenty of different types of humor which makes sense since there are so many
different types of people.
Some humor is subtle and witty while others
can be rather blunt & slapstick-ish. Personally
I find most of the whole spectrum entertaining
depending on my mood.
Why the explanation of the obvious? Well I have
seen recent threads with extensive commentary
about humor and wanted to comment.
In my opinion, the two things that make the
biggest difference in how one's edgey jokes
are received are: Timing and Your Position
in relation to the topic or the audience.
Of course some people will always get upset
over a subject they feel is too taboo, however
the majority will laugh at edgy humor if the
two above conditions are met.
Some Examples:
Chris Rock can get away with making certain
jokes about black culture on a much larger
scale than me cause I'm green & he is black.
A friend of mine showed up at the hospital the
day after my motorcycle accident and said:
"Dipshit, I told you not to get a motorcycle!"
When in college I worked for a quadreplegic
and broke his leg during an akward transfer.
That night we were in a bar making up stories
about how it happend & telling them to chicks.
Watched a military pilot who was visiting a DZ
turn low and break his femur. I brought him a
calling card and some food to the hospital and
enjoyed razzing him about 'pilot error'.
