once again we have suffered a fatality.

once again it is listed in the "Incidents" forum.

once again most responses contain little technical information regarding the jump. instead, they offer words of comfort to those left behind. they ask people to be patient regarding jump details.

I expect in a week or two the thread will take a different tone and become more technical.

I really think we need a "Memorials" forum. a place to talk about the deceased, NOT the jump. friends and family grieve at different rates. if a slow griever wishes to read an eloquent post, must they deal with the technical points?

most loved ones probably do NOT care about technical points. imagine a child who never really knew their father. years latter, they read tributes to better know him. why not let them avoid the jump details? why make them relive a possible moment of horror?

sometimes sh*t happens. wonderful people can make mistakes. let's divorce criticism of the jump from memories of the jumper. please create a separate forum!

Why not put the thread in the hangout? Before the memorial forum on dz.com those posts were put in the Bonfire.

One of the reasons it was created was the threads got lost in all the other threads. That doesn't seem to be a problem here.

Another suggestion might be to use dz.com's memorial forum.

Technical question: Could the memorial forums for Basejumper.com and dz.com be linked so the same threads would display on either site and either group could post?

Skydivers and base jumpers have their differences, but I'd like to think we can honor each others fallen.

Why not just create a section on here for memorials like the OP says?

The hangout is supposed to be where people can talk about hookers and blow and Collin getting married...not the appropriate place for a memorial IMO.

MysBASE is not DZ.com...so why would they be linked for a memorial page? Other than to occasionally check my email, I never go to DZ.com...and would bet many others don't as well.

About the only time I go to DZ.com
anymore is when I need money and
have some skydiving stuff to sell.
