Here is the deal: i want to buy a canopy in 240 size, now im jumping a Troll which is a good canopy, so i was looking at the sizing chart at Morpheushttp://baserigs.com/..but i got confused when i started to comparing div. 240 canopies..
example: a Troll 225 is in PIA spec 240ft2 and morpheus recommend a body weight 135pound, then we have Apexbase with their Fox245 and for this one they recommend a body weight at 175pound!! this one is actually only 5ft2 bigger than a Troll 225...
and the same goes for a Flik242: recommend bodyweight 172pound.
I have jumped fox245 and Flik242 and a Mojo240 before with no problems..my weight is 165pound, so in that case im way to heavy for the Troll225...
can someone here explain why they making this different recommendations? i mean those canopies are all same size, give or take a few sft2...

I sent a email to Stane (Atair)about this some months ago, but i haven`t got any replies from him..i also asking Kathy at morpheus but i got a answer like this..buy a Troll 245

if you can use troll 245(260sq) for terminal jump and use troll 265(282sq) I'm 175 and I use troll 265 for all low jumps they land really nice especially for older people (me that is) long as not to windy, but I did start jumping troll 245 first they are both good canopy for you

Can you reference the Flik weight recommendations you are citing? Are they somewhere on the Apex web site?

i have the apexbase manual and read out of this, they only showing the flik and fox..not the rock dragon244 or Dagger244

Me to have a Troll265..but this one giving some fit in windy conditions..it`s a very nice canopy..like it a lot, so i need a smaller one..

Ok, I found it in their on-line manual.


The weights listed in the manual are "suspended weight" rather than body weight, so they are actually a bit closer than you might think. Still, it does look like the Apex numbers are higher (for jumper weight) than the other manufacturers. Personally, I'd say the numbers shown in the Apex manual are a bit on the high side, and I'd personally choose to load things more in line with the Atair recommendations.
