Re: [seldomseen_mark] lowest object
why?

You can go low enough over water, where a parachute is optional?

Re: [jdatc] lowest object
I did a TARD off a 55 ft cliff! It was boring...

Re: [seldomseen_mark] lowest object
We once jumped the inside of a Cathedral in London. 105 ft. PCA .

Re: [seldomseen_mark] lowest object
Is this about personal choice, or simply about what is the lowest possible?!

As my minimum height I'm willing to FF is 210ft using a 48 of course!

128feet Building(PCA), no lower for me..

FIFTEEN FEET...I went off the roof of my house when I was six with a home made parachute. It was a round kitchen table cloth, the lines were "yarn". I spent two days in Childrens Hospital.

Good Luck!

Its peoples' experience with what they have done. Just curious.

In that case 138' static line for myself into a narrow gorge off a pedestrain bridge. Low enough for now I guess....

However, There's a nice 163' Cliff you can FF near the potatoe bridge that's gaining popularity...

I watched Magot have enough time to clear his toggles and flare before he got wet with a 48...

Then again, Ryan had a small hesitation on his 46, and he got a 1 second canopy ride.

Re: [seldomseen_mark] lowest object
TARD off a 150' water tower over solid ground.

Plenty of time for a solid flare...

The rest of the crew was PCA's or static lined with no issues.

Re: [seldomseen_mark] lowest object
i free-fall 180' at sea level.

but i saw deamanwalking tard something like 60'

BASE #'s 1, 74, and I freefell a 172' bridge over water in Texas using fully closed containers and hand held 52" Para Inovator Pilot Chutes in 1984. My old 9 cell Nimbus with about a 4 to 1 aspect ratio had me in the saddle 70 feet off the water.

at some point i frecuantly fféd 180 above hardground and a few objects at the ground, used a 46´av zp pc most of the time ihad aprox 7 secs of anopy ride(as i got the gear exit and throuh working).
I belive that if your freinds slam into the ground ff 150ft whith a 52´then they dont know how to jump that altitude and should practice from a higher level.. 150ft can be fff whith stand up landings.. you just need to know how..

lowest object (SL) so far is 135ft above hardground.. im in the belive that if you cant do it over hard ground you shouldnt go there in the first place.. water jumps are ok aslong as your willing to do the same above hard ground..

but then again thats just me

160' SL over hard ground a few nights ago. Plenty of time for a 90 degree turn and flare from full flight.

The lowest I've FF'd is 59m (193ft) and I've done plenty of jumps in the 60-70m range (190ft - 220ft). What I've noticed on those jumps is that the canopy time varies dramatically from time to time and therefore i'm not too keen on FF'ing lower. Could you post some video about you FF'ing 55m's (180ft) and getting constantly around 7s canopy rides ? I'd be more than interesteds in seeing your technique and comparing it to mine ? How have you measured the exit alti to be exactly 55m ? Not to mean that it isn't but when talking about these jumps, every meter (or feet) counts.

If you could share your views about this technique I'd be very interested. Send me an PM if you do not wish to discuss this on public forum. I've PCA'd couple of jumps around 45m (150ft) and would love to hear ideas how to FF this height over hard ground with stand up landings. Not that I would try it but still. :)

exit point were lasered original i thourght it were 60m/200ft but after a trip to UK i realiced i found myself on shorter rids than in UK(210ft),i then lasered it to 55m/180ft(using that formel i cant spellLaugh)

I do belive some of my vids are out there most of thouse public im belly to earth and a regular go n through pitch whith a 46´av zp on thouse jumps i get 3-6 secs of canopy rides.
Im not into going into details public about my tecniqes but will pm you tomo, hope thats ok

To answer the poster before about why you should be abel to do it over hard ground, simply becourse water also can kill you, dont use it as a excuse to do lower stuff, even whith the canopy out you can hit the water damn hard..(can you swim whith 2 broken femurs and a canopy dragging you down?)

Re: [Faber] lowest object
People jump dive boards from 10 meters into water just for fun.
10 meter freefall is also the LD50 above solid ground.

You see the diffrent between both jumps? Wink

sure,they dont rely on a parachute system/gear-freefall-exit-deploy.

What i posted were my thourghts about the objtect, people have jumped aslow as 26 m above hardground using a canopy,so yes i think what most people here considder to use a canopy to should be whith the thourght how to do it so safe that you can do it over hard ground..

Why bring a rig for a 40m jump into water people does this whith out a canopy..
If you rely on that the water should save your a$$ from a low opening or what ever, then you already are jumping a altitude that is beyond your skills(atleast if you are not used to low jumps).

Re: [greeny] lowest object
ok man... Steve Morrell used to say to me "death is mother nature's way of telling you to slow down..." But from my interactions with Dwain W., Nick H., and Slim, the best jumps of all are the highest and the lowest. The lowest are a complete science among themselves and Mark Hewitt, BASE 46, was the king of them all, but he had some agressive personality issues that drove many people away from him. Mark developed the static line and the direct bag. People started refering to the static line system as the dope rope and then people went to the DB system, which is a great system, although high maintainance, but the system is "instant canopy, just add air."

the British are well developed in the science of super low objects. most of them are static line or some sort of assist. Alan Hetherington from years ago did a static line jump from a NINE STORY BUILDING.

Rick, that Nimbus is one cool canopy. never been on a canopy that flew or opened quite like it, even with those 4 inch tears all over it.
