I need some help. A guy I knw thinks that he can sucessfully do a jump using a LoPo from a 130 ft bridge into relatively deep and fast water. The bridge itself is in the middle of a mid sized town . He's not listening to my objections so I thought I'd float this out in cyberspace, and if and when I get some approppriate replys, print them off and show him.

why people plan a jump where you only can hope that it works to survive...

Tell him to check out number 113. And all the others for that matter. If you print out that whole list it should give him a little bit of a wake up. If not, well, you tried.

Demonstrate it won't possibly work by attaching a "standard man" weight and pilot chute assist the opening. Rounds can open really slow, except for the very small ones. I will bet money on it that it won't open in time.

PCA with a slider down square should be fine. Round probably won't be. Why not just use the standard gear?

If packed properly I will bet money it will open in time but only PCA or SL.

This same thing nearly killed my friend Randy Harrison (BASE 37) from a 170 foot bridge. A 26 foot round will open too slow even with a PCA, apex rubber banded, not 45-ing the stabilizers, exposing the skirt, etc.
