PDX BASE and the "new" Portland Crew...
Are proud to announce:

Jumping for homeless children.

In the coming months PDX BASE will be organized as a non-profit. We will be selling t-shirts that read (JUMPING FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN). Yes this is serious. We will be selling the shirts for $10 each, different colors and sizes will be available. If all goes as planned: Our first jump as an organization will be here in the Pacific NW in broad daylight, this winter. 100% of the proceeds will go to help homeless children here in the region.

DJ Higgins and I would like to thank the 3 students that made us think teaching BASE is a good idea. You know who you are...way to go and keep going.

scary dan, but awesome. sign me up for a t-shirt. maybe I can set up an additional non-profit here in san francisco.

and if this scam works, it could be a national group. with over a 5000 base jumpers in the US (est.) there is already a great core. PirateWink

good luck dan and DJ.

Pretty amazing, rich history of BASE in PDX - glad there is new blood to carry on (or is that carrion?)

I'm down in Eugene - I don't jump anymore, but would love to help out with this - keep me posted.

Also, PDX Crew or anybody else passing through - there is a site near Eugene that I never jumped, and don't know anyone who did (do you, Raistlin?), but it seems quite do-able and scenic.

I'll gladly share info via PM and would welcome any visitors to Eugene who are interested in checking it out. . .

Thanks for the responses guys! Also, it apparently takes about $700 worth of supplies to get a helium-filled, attached to the ground, system airborne **large and efficient enough to take one avg. size jumper to freefall BASE altitude**

More to follow, please respond via PM if you want a t-shirt. The backs will read:

UPDATE:

City of Portland has our bus. license application/ it is easier to get non-profit status of a company if it is already operating...That way, you can prove with your records that you have been donating your proceeds/ and or profits, rather than promising that you WILL BE giving back in the future. For those of you who are wondering what that means, essentially non-profit also means tax exempt; if the business is set-up properly.

Also, the cost on a helium system is up to $950-the most expensive part is the helium itslef
