Just an interesting fact that I'm comfortable in stating. For the last 5-6 years, the percentage of female jumpers at Bridge Day was around 12.5%. And now that I've nearly completed processing jump slot orders for Bridge Day 2007, I noticed that it's 12.5% once again.

How does this percentage skew when referring to active jumpers as opposed to BD only jumpers?

According to my "road travel experience" math, only like 1 in 20 jumpers are female...

1 in 8 once a year bridge jumpers are female. How does that sound?

Mathematically, that sounds like the probability of getting laid (for a male) at least once in N years at Bridge Day is equal to 1-(7/8)^N, while for a female it's 1-(1/8)^N. Here's a little table so you can estimate your chances:

(years at BD): (prob. for male) (prob. for female)

1: 12.5% 87.5%
2: 23.4% 98.4%
3: 33.0% 99.8%
5: 48.7% 99.99%
10: 73.7% 100%
20: 93.1% 100%

You're assuming that all BD female jumpers only jump once a year. Whether they are "active" BASE jumpers or not, BD jumpers represent a fairly normal slice of the pie. Gathering statistics from active altitude thieves is inherently difficult (if not impossible), so the BD data provides a good start at the minimum...

Only those who when to BD2006 know what this is about. The jumper badges had an overweight male jumper cartoon and we put each person's 2"x2" photo over his head.

Yeah, maybe this year it'll be a scantly clad female on the ID badge. Most guys won't mind that....

Huh ?? I musta went to a different Bridge-Day last year, mine has a picture of a bridge.

Which brings up a question. If I can get the photo out of the lamination, can I use it again this year??

Yes, you can reuse old 2x2 pics. I'll even take a good artist's sketch of your face. The best ones are when jumpers cut up their drivers licenses in front of us just so they can use the pic....
