forum rules/site naming
I just read the forum rules. (the counter claimed all of 5 views... they don't seem particularly popular.)

I saw no site-naming rule.

I'll try to get that added ASAP. Also, we still need to bring over the "no site naming" warning that popped up when you created a new post over at DZ.com in the BASE forum.

Continued use of BASEjumper.com after a change has been made is your acceptance of the change.

Check out recent and current litigation on user acceptance policies and end-user license agreements. That kind of wording doesn't really hold up in court. Not that anyone is going to be suing over a free forum (I hope), but that kind of stuff just rubs me the wrong way. And believe me, being rubbed the right way is really nice.

For some reason, it took me a while to find the rules. I expected there to be a post in the announcements section. I'm guessing the rules page will come up when a new account is created?

Can you point out any links to that litigation?

Here's a few:

Second Life - Find the section talking about the "Take it or leave it clause"
http://games.slashdot.org/...sid=07/06/08/2017257

EFF - Check out item 5
http://www.eff.org/wp/eula.php

A random editorial:
http://www.gripe2ed.com/.../5/13/0529/97735/104

Gateway - Current litigation regarding the "I never saw the policy" issue
http://hardware.slashdot.org/...sid=07/06/09/0533219

Good search terms are "unconscionable" and "take it or leave it" along with EAP and/or EULA.

The whole thing here on basejumper.com isn't a big deal, because you'll ban someone based on a new rule in the policy, they'll gripe, then they'll get over it, because they're not out any real property.
