Notification E-Mail
Is there a setting somewhere that sends you a notification e-mail to your e-mail address (not the basejumper.com e-mail address) when you receive a reply to one of your posts?

I can't seem to find this setting and it doesn't seem to do it.

Hey Russel,

There's a check box at the bottom of each post which, when checked, will trigger a message to you when somebody replies to your post.

You can go to "Settings" in the local navigation bar to turn this setting on or off by default.

The notification email will be sent to the email address on your account, not the display addres you have in the forums.

I have this set already. I only get an e-mail to my basejumper.com e-mail address saying I have a reply. I don't get anything to my personal e-mail.

I'll look into that one for you. Mine is getting to my account (not basejumper.com) email address.

Ditto, and when I try to change account information I get an error that says "Signup IP must not be left blank."

I found a way to fix this for me (I edited my account settings using the editor tool, rather than through the BJ.com interface).

I can do this on a case by case basis for folks who want it, if it's ok with you.

JP, it looks to me like you successfully fixed this for yourself by modifying your profile. Is that true?

Well, you replied to my post but now I haven't received anything. No e-mail to my personal address OR my BJ.com address. It's only been about 45 minutes though. I'll wait a bit longer, maybe it just takes a really long time.

Side note: I do have the "Send e-mail notification on reply" checked as default if you were wondering.

My notification of this reply was time stamped 9:31 and arrived in my inbox at 9:44.

I'm going to try replying to you at intervals today to see if you get any of the notifications.

It's happening to me too.
Is it not happening with everyone? What's special about these particular accounts that this is happening somewhat uniquely?

If I had a copy of the database at hand, I would do a text dump of it and examine each record until I figured out what was going on. But then I'm old-school.. I solve all the world's problems with vi. Wink

Hmmm. I've just gotten a notification from your reply.

The email address I put in for you was the last one I got an email from you at (on my birthday). Is that the email you are checking?

Ether, do you want me to update yours and see if it works better than Russell's?

Yeah, let's give it a go.
Perhaps is this related to my not entering a "display email address" in my profile? On dropzone.com the system used the account email, not the display email, for notifications.

It should work that way here, too. I'm guessing that somehow the account email addresses got lost in the import, and everyone got their @basejumper.com address assigned as the place notifications go.

Have you tried changing it manually for yourself?

My account information contained the email I was using at dropzone. I have just changed it to something else as a test...

Doing this seems to have done the trick. I am now receiving notification emails to my account's email address, rather than to Ether@basejumper.com. It would seem that the import of information from dropzone.com ends up in the database in a different way than when it is entered on the account page.
