Hey all,

As you may have noticed we've changed how avatars are added to your profile. You can use any of the photos that you submitted to the photo galleries as your avatar.

* Upload a photo
* Flag the photo (on the upload form) as "Forum Avatar / Profile Icon "
* Return to and Edit your Profile
* Select the photo you want to use as an avatar

Do not crop or size the image that you upload to avatar-size. The photo application will create a cropped version from your original photo.

You can upload and mark as "avatar" as many photos as you want. The most recent 8 will be shown when you edit your profile for you to choose from.

Avatars have to comply with our photo submission guidelines. Unfortunately, the ability to post any image as an avatar were often abused in the past. You are welcome to post a BASE related photo, uploaded to any category or a photo of yourself (to the Profile category in the galleries) and use that as an avatar. Logos, gif graphics etc will not be accepted.

It's a BASE site... post BASE stuff!

I followed the instructions. My profile picture shows up when I look at my profile. When I make a post, the image does not appear in the post. When I edit my profile, and mark the dot under the picture, it won't stay after I hit update.

Am I missing a step?

i uploaded a photo that i wanted to use as my avatar (which was cropped to avatar size)
i received an email from the photo editor @ webmaster@basejumper.com - rejecting my photo as it was cropped, requesting that i sent in an uncropped photo
i then tried to resubmit the original photo, as requested, but, it's too big (over the 1mb size limit)
how convienient

i then replied to the photo editor's email sending both the original size & cropped images - i haven't heard back

so, now should i resize the 1.27mb pix to 1mb or can you just let me use the cropped image as an avatar

most image manipulation software lets you save an image at a lower resolution. if you reduce it to avatar size yourself, Sangiro's system rejects it. (I had the same issue.)

basically, reduce the resolution enough to be accepted and let Sangiro's system take it from there. don't try to "help" him.

It sure would make the website better if our non-jumping related avatars would show up outside of a profile view.

Is this why my avatar doesn't actually show up?

I've been trying to upload an avatar image for the past 3 days. It says it will send me an email when the image has been validated, but still no email and still no images in my photos area or my avatar. I've tried uploading as profile/earth and with the avatar box check/unchecked, with tags and without. Nothing seems to work?

I have no special powers or knowledge regarding avatars, photos, videos, articles, classifieds, gear, i.e. most of the freakin' site.

users have complained about the avatars virtually ever since this split off from DZ.com. I don't know why they do not work for so many.

You can add me to those who are complaining. My avatar is uploaded, and I can see it in my profile, but it will not show up in my posts for love or money.

It is all part of Tizzy's evil master plan.
