Perfect weather the past five days and my BASE bud had plans the past five nights (girlfriend and new house stuff). The weather is real good for a prime local object and it screams jump me like a hot chick. If he bails again:

A) Jump anyway by myself (with ground crew)
B) Invite BlackDeath Kenny along despite my better judgment
C) Not jump and start drinking
D) Other (I cannot even imagine the replies I'll get on this option)

Jump that thing. Solos are good. It's not some big boogy man thing, just a jump.

How the night ended was none of the above. My bud actually showed up, we jumped a B, and had a few beers afterward. A good time was had by all.

As I type this, I realize it is Father's Day. Happy Father's Day to all you M@th3r F#*ker$ out there!

As I am a father I will gratefully accept your fathers day gesture.

My base buddy has left East Africa and there are no other Basers in this part of the world that I know of. I could either stop jumping or go solo. I have now done a few solos both with & without ground crew and find them extremely fulfilling as well as challenging. There is no longer the opportunity for any "look at me Bravado" and nor is there any moral support. Solos have helped me know me better. I also find solos quite demmading in that I now have to do some considerable trekking to get back to my car etc.

In terms of numbers I am new to the sport and cannot provide guidance or advice but I have found solos to be very worthwhile

here is to all us younger, less fertile kids.
