Well I heard some crazy Whffo shit before --> what if the chute doesn’t open etc…

but earlier today I was teaching and I had a client who was sure her son had done a tandem base jump in the Switzerland, I thought paragliding? but she had details that seemed to ensure that it was a rapid decent? A paraglide swoop to the floor?

I just can’t see the two person exit with a virgin, and the track? It could be done but she must have got it wrong?

I guess I just got chapped because I love BASE and feel special and reverent about it.

So I’m just curios is there anything like a tandem base in the Swiss valley that she got mixed up with?

 

Tandem BASE jumps have been done on a few ocassions, Ted Strong at BD back in the 80s and the late Thor Alex from an E in Norway (see 1st BASE) and probably others.

But from the walls of the cheesy valley, with a newbie, I doubt it!

They do fly skydive and paraglider tandems into the valley though..

Managed to talk my girlfriend out of being a Tandam with aguy who was trying to do one at KL.

Spoke to anouther girl recently who the same guy tried to talk into going of perrine.

he has a rig he built for it, so not as unbelieveable as you might think.

Taking a virgin tandem from 8,000 feet
can be scary enough for both parties but doing
it from 486' just seems plain wrong!!

However, I did work with a guy at my last job
who said he did a tandem BASE jump years
ago on a family vacation in Switzerland.

Normally I would have called "bullshit" on
the spot but instead my buddy (a Ranger)
and I just smiled and let him be a liar.
