Just from examining your profile, please be careful and get some experience and competent training.

If you don't, you may "go big, then go home" in a way you aren't expecting. The BASE community hasn't been seeing the best of times in Norway lately.

yeah, i'm not updating my pro frequnatly enough...

i'ts hard enough to fill out the log book in the desert heat, before 0beer:30.... i'm not going to take the course before the pre requiste 250 jumps, then i'd like to be informed... and i've been getting much better at listening to the little voice in my head and heeding it's quiet informed decision... any hoo... i'd like to hear from people with their experiences to feel the waters as it were........

Take a look here.

Just browsing the tail end of the list, Norway doesn't take up as disproportionate of a share as I originally thought, but there have been 3 there this year that I know of. The one that immediately came to mind was Lori Barr... she only had 5 BASE jumps total, no cliff jumps, and was put off on an organized jump.

But if you review the list, you'll see that that vast majority of fatalities are cliff strikes. I may make a trip out to Moab this spring, but I'm going to make sure Jimmy & Marta (from Vertigo) are supervising. I trust them & their judgment.

And just to head off any misunderstandings, I'm not saying BR's expedition is bad or unsafe. I have no idea, but I'm guessing it's very well run.

Just be careful out there. Wink

Norway is a BASE jumper's Heaven. It's one of the most beautiful places to jump on the planet. With that being said, I will also say that the cliffs near Lysebotn are huge, but unforgiving, as the number of fatalities there will attest to. 250 skydives as a minimum is LOW for a cliff jump of ANY size, including those in Norway. There is also grumblings of banning BASE from these cliffs, so expect these minimum jump number requirements to increase--
But what's the rush? If you are really all about BASE, then make your skydives on a BASE canopy, practice your canopy skills, etc. (which you should do anyway), but skydiving is FUN! Why don't you get lost in skydiving for awhile--then go through a US FJC, make some bridge jumps, become a SAFE BASE jumper, and THEN think about Norway. Besides--I GUARANTEE you will have a lot more fun in Norway if you have BASE experience beforehand. Trust me on this.
