Re: [stitch] 1500ft tower fall
If a tower falls and there is no one to hear it does it still make a sound.

My buddy has video one of our local 2000 foot towers falling in the 1980s. It's Channel 20 in Houston. Unfortunately there were 3 workers who also fell to their death and that's on the video too. The camera crew had to run for their lives while the tower spiralled (yes it spiralled) down.

im 90% sure that was locals... edit to add.

im 100% sure that was locals.

that particular tower has quite a bit of history, and has seen alot of traffic.

i did my first stowed slider down there 2 years ago, sunset(ish) load and promptly got the van stuck in the mud on the way out,... it took 2 hours, a half pint of jack, and 8 packing clamps under the deflated tires for "traction" to get out... goddamn i love this game.

roll dice roll.

may she rest in piece(s)

Re: [avenfoto] 1500ft tower fall
I wonder how much effect climbing a tower has on the structure? I know they are designed to withstand alot, but nonetheless...

Any structural engineers out there?

What about testing... Any structural Engineers want to hire me to climb and jump some towers to help test?

So that was the "locals" tower? I thought it looked familiar. Jumped it 10 years ago. RIP.

Bummer, what a piece of history it was!

460, you just might remember these:

are you fucking kidding me? safe distance?

the many hours i have spent climbing my local 600meter stick, i have dreamed and dreamed about standing on the top, and haveing it fall beneath me, taking a push off it and tracking like i never tracked before, watching it scatter between my legs as i deploy. that would be the single coolest moment of my life. i know you know what i mean.

the coolest moment in the life
For the single would-be coolest moment in the life, how about this:

Plant some dynamite on a big steep mountain in severe avalanche conditions. Jump from a plane in wingsuit and trigger the avalanche at appropriate moment. Surf the front "wave" of the avalanche.

It's do it or die, no doubt, but cool like hell! The visuals will be amazing.

I guess, I got inspired by this. Laugh

Re: [yuri_base] the coolest moment in the life
yuri, that is SWEET. (the link, your idea, well, it would be cool. but, there is logistical issues with that. avalanches drag air with them, a lot.

Re: [Calvin19] the coolest moment in the life
you'll need to fly well in front of the front, where the air is still still. not exactly surfing, but still...

Re: [yuri_base] the coolest moment in the life
we could let the slide gain on us easily, then gain speed slowly, but not fast enough to lose too much airspeed. as the slide hits the bottom of the hill, we would have so much ground speed we could land the suit!!!!

ok, never mind. CrazyTongueAngelicCoolBlushFrownWinkSmileShockedLaughUnimpressedPirateUnsureMad

I agree... I had a girl that was begging me for it, and her dad was a commercial demolitionist. but, i have a pretty GF now, so, thats out.

I want/need some hard core blam. anyone have any idea on how to get it?

ps-it is for something non-destructive, like in the bad ass urban surfing film
