Scouted out some sites at snowbird (smallish) and jackson hole, gonna try to get something going here soon. Definitely hitting up lovers for about a week in march though!

What about toboggan wingsuit BASE? Picture lying on your stomach on the toboggan with the wings spread, picking up a ton of speed, shooting off the edge and straight into full flight as the toboggan falls away.

an APOOOPAA event can be anywhere. what we are looking for in a jump is:

nice take off: important
hillside for plenty speed that is easy to ride.
a wall with some good clean open air to launch into with SOFT impact: important
corners/aretts are good


it would be nice if wall was low enough that a 180 after an average speed jump if never corrected would result in snow impact or at least wall impact that you hit snow within the first 80 feet of your wall scrape/strike/slam

please explore your local backcountry with camera to propose options

Its been dumping for days with at least 2 more days of snow to come from this storm i dont know how much has come down at the site but it even snowed on bay area peaks (~2000 ft) this afternoon. things are looking good!!! Thank you Ullr!

we tried to go to the one in southwest CO, easy driveup skibase, but there was no snow. and to windy to jump that day anyway. i would throw it if we could build an inrun, as long as i get away from that bitch and over the frozen lake.

It's just that time of the year again, there is snow in the Sierra and people are ready for some silly ski/snowboard/sled hucking. I'm sure the APOOPA founders will make an announcement when it is confirmed the conditions are good to go, unless they have been banned from here, which is a good possibility.

A message from the founder of APOOPA:

We have absolutely no interest in organizing another APOOPA event. I
only did that because at the time last year I had a dislocated hip and
needed an amusing project. It turned out to be beyond amusing. There
were way too many people there who had no business attempting to
combine parachutes with snow sliding devices. It was truly amazing that
we didn't have any D-s or any Fs that day. D+s always make for
tremendously funny video footage especially when almost half the jumps
got that grade. But D+s are a sliver away from an F and I don't want
one of those on my hands. Anyone is welcome to come on out here on
their own time and have a go at it but we strongly urge everyone to
have this under their belt first:

Experienced base jumper
Expert skier or snowboarder
Able to consistently hit the biggest jump in the terrain park. Must be
able to land smoothly every time on the tranny.
Must be able to maintain a stable skier or snowboarder position in the
air off the biggest terrain park jumps.

Cool. Qualified.

Anybody in the area willing to guide one person (me), for some beer money? Expensive beer is fine.

it is amazing how many kids out there emailed or called ME of all people asking if i would take them to a skibase. they either are good skiers/snowboarders with 2 skydives, or 25 jumps aff kids with garage sale skis.
