What happened??? When you started out did you not get the BASE geography lesson?? Flat means something very significant to the hieght of a certain BASE object. Or are you just an "object snob"?

Nope, getaway car was a F-100 with 292 Y block, the ParaCommander did slide out of it's sleeve in its patience testing way, and Mayfield and Smitty were the best of Mentors...

It wasn't a paracomander. I think it was a piglet canopy off of the 1st B in BASE and Mayfield was the one who jumped it behind Smitty.

Hey Phil, if this is you, the piglet I was referring to is when you and Smitty were the first two B's off the TCC. I just saw the A photo off the old Ch. 8 tower, great platform,and I remember Smitty jumped that stratoflyer until he got the cruislite. Call me if your in Houston.

well, up until now, my only BASE jumps have been what y'all would consider high, special occasions and with peeps I already knew... havent had the BASE specific gear.. just made the investment and hope to be able to use it... and i can see the A's with a lot of PL's and T's around them, was hoping to get more than 1 jump with the new gear.. thanks for all the input

every parachute activity is a high special occasion...

however DO NOT RELY on the sectionals. they are not that accurate. I looked at 7 different objects I know and I found errors in 6 of them. (yes I know how to read a sectional). I found one error in excess of 100 feet.

Of course, that's right.

Yet Sectionals have always been modest treasure maps in the BASE community and besides no one is going to jump anything without eyeballing it first. And even a good treasure map won't tell you how far you'll have to dig.

Most of the towers in the south-western U.S.A. seem to be close enough . . .

Eyeballing = Going downtown and taking a photograph and then going home and figuring it out - and then going back at night and doing it . . .
