I was just taking a look at 2005 Bridge Day photos and wondered what this guy has on his chest...it looks like a back pack, or book bag......is it a big floation device?

it looks like a back pack.in the past i have seen jumpers jump with backpacks on their chest with clothes wrapped in plastic bags in case the landed in the water.
the water is very cold this time of year.i landed in the river 2 times one year and would have given my left nut for dry clothes.

oh, that makes sense. Yeah, you'd be freezing your butt off down there.

I'm just not used to seeing anything covering the front of your body...you know, it's easy for a non-base guy to forget that you don't need access to anything like reserves or cut-away handles.

I dunno....If I was worried enough about landing in the water that I brought spare clothes wrapped up in a bag on my front , I'd be worried enough to make sure my cutaway was not obscured/covered up in case of that water landing
