Bridge Day - round jumpers
Hey,
I'm looking to meet up with someone who has experience jumping rounds. I have a complete set up and would like to go over a few things sometime Friday at the Holliday Inn.
Please PM if interested.
Thanks,
Scott

I would like to join the crowd. I got the setup, and packed it a few times but would definately like somebody to walk me through it "just in case". If anybody has a spare container with stows, I have a spare 24ft Phantom with kevlar they can borrow.

Comin to BD Wednesday PM

I have a lot of experience with packing and jumping rounds. If your parachute is configured anything like the ones we used back in the mid-to-late 60's, i.e. four riser groups, etc., I think I can be of some help, although I doubt that anyone is jumping that vintage of gear these days.

Note that our rounds were modified military parachutes that incorporated a sleeve rather than a slider and 2-shot capewell releases rather than the 3-ring system. I am admittedly completely lost with modern gear.

PM me if you think I can be of any help. I'll be in the Bridge Day area on Wednesday, Oct. 18.

Modern BASE rounds use neither a sleeve nor a slider. They also don't use a diaper (which was probably the latest iteration of that sort of reefing) in most cases.

I'm thinking we ought to get 460 or RiggerSam or somebody to hold a round packing seminar on Friday at the Holiday Inn. I'm proabably already a little overcommitted to be adding anything to my Friday schedule. So, who wants to lead that?

Thats a great idea! I've had a couple of people contact me asking if they could sit in on any sort of instruction I can find. Anyone willing to hold a sort of mini class?

Also, I thought you still use a diaper for longer delays?

That was the "in most cases." I'd use a diaper if I was at terminal, but at Bridge Day, for example, I don't use it.

I would say it would be better for RiggerSam to lead this one. I can help individuals but I don't feel comfortable showing a group since I only occasionally jump my round. My K-20 round (yes, it's been acid mesh tested) uses a 3 stow diaper with a split line stow system since I'm taking it on a long delay. the canopy is freepacked into the container with stows in the container. As always, I rubberband the apex about a foot toward the skirt from the apex to quicken the opening. My round is small so it opens very quickly due to the reduced fill volume and it has about a 12 mph forward speed due the venting system. it even has toggles mounted on the front risers. I have packed a several types of rounds and would be glad to help a few individuals. I'll be arriving Friday afternoon at the Holiday Inn. I should be obvious to spot since I'm so unusually handsome.
