I do mostly slider off, 2,5-3 sec. jumps. After all the hand tack home rigging, my db's were looking a mess. I asked a buddy master rigger if he had a better solution and he came up with this (attached). I have done about 20 jumps with one slider up. On the slider up jump there were no problems with the guide rings.
Anybody ever seen/tried this set up?
If yes, have you encountered any problems with it?

I had my rigger made the same thing on my first canopy when the DBS was worn out. Did like 50 jumps with it after that and like you I had no problems. But for myself I didn't like it on slider up jumps if I needed to sink/fly in brakes, because of the bump you feel when you pull the control line through the rings slowly. But from full flight to flare was no problem.

Bad idea in my opinion. For awhile, Basic Research delivered their Fox canopies in the mid-90's with a very similar configuration. Sometimes jumpers would have momentary toggle hang-ups due to the bump. The idea behind the design was that only a small section of control line could be replaced when brake settings wore out.

Edit: If you can find a way to keep the bump from catching in the toggle keeper, then the design might catch on.

had the thourght of doing the same,but slider comes into my mind,i however usaly dont use a slider so i might do it anyway

I have the exact same setup on my rig and it works fine. I do almost 100% slider-ups, never had a hangup.

I've seen that setup quite a few times. Adam Filipino called it the "captive loop" when he put it on a rig for a friend of mine about 6 years ago.

As noted, the downside is the bump you feel going through the guide rings slider up. Slider down there isn't really any downside, in my opinion.

I've never heard of a case of the loop hanging up in the ring in actual practice, but I can definitely see the possibility. I do know that it's a weird feeling when you start flying it, so you have to sort of re-train yourself to ignore that little bump in the middle of your flare.

I put this setup on my Mojo and have had no problems at all. The "Chain" style brake setting for slider down setting is WAY stronger than a "cat eye" because the shock load is directed to a loop of line rather than a splice type joint. A cat eye for slider up is fine because the force to the brake setting is applied much more gradualy and results in less wear. Sure you feel a "Bump" in your controll stroke, but after a few jumps it's a non-issue.
