the real history of BASE jumping

I especially like this quote:

"in order to prevent possible fractural injuries due to the highly risky nature of jumping off cliffs , they had to be totally drunk. Everybody knows that when you're drunk, the chances to brake bones due to a fall, are a lot smaller than when you're sober! The pioneers had this knowledge and used it..."

Pretty funny.

That's pretty good. Gotta love the modern clothing they had back then.

Is this webpage just a test to see if the press will print any of that bullshit?

It's cool that we can trace the lineage of the Protec Half Ace. The mystery has plagued us for years but now we have proof they existed that long ago.

It was also the wrist watches/wear and modern door hardware that blew it for them.

I didn't know this about the Perigee...

In reply to:
Since the velcro-system is composed of a "male" and a "female" part ("a dick in a chick"), the container was called Per-i-Gry (Per and Gry are two norwegian names,"i" means in[side]...). There is a theory that the ancient blueprints for this container, designed by Eiolf and Wlodzimiesz, were retrieved by some American jumpers, and later mass-produced under the name "Perigee".....
