It has not been a good weekend here in Twin.

I'm not going to say anything except ... #### me. BSBD to the fallen jumper and all those who have been touched by this person.

OK, I've just got the call. I met her at the Eloy boogie 2 years ago, she was such a cool chick. Strong personality with a wicked sense of humour. My thoughts with all her family and friends.

I'm going to buy a fine bottle of Argentinian dry red and have a drink in her honour.

This weekend has not been good.

I know I said this in a previous post regarding the abnormal # of fatalities this weekend, but I want to take say it again to Sangiro, and to anyone else since this thread will be read by many...

I feel a strong bond with my fellow skydivers and even BASE jumpers (that I've been fortunate to meet that is) and it's important for me to share that w/ you all.

This weekend was his birthday gift to her. She was so excited about it because he'd never seen her jump before.

DAMN, I've gotten two calls this evening about this and it SUCKS. What an amazingly strong woman. I remember drinking wine in Eloy and Dublin with her and laughing like a bunch of schoolgirls. You will be greatly missed baby.

The Sheriff's department has just officially announced her name, which means family has been notified.

I remember her smiling face sitting next to me in Dublin.....It was nice..much nicer than the scowl I got the first time i met her.....She will be missed.

i didn't know her. but i do feel the loss of everyone who knew her. there aren't that many of us who do this and you (I) do feel it! because you know exactly what went through her mind at the last second of ground rush. we all feel it and it can just as easily happen to any of us the same way! 'Wild child'. I used the same phrase for her...I didn't make the drive to Byron, it was too far 2 years ago, and now it's too late. I'm sorry, girl. I should have sucked it up and missed my flight...

I love ya Shannon. You were so much more than an awesome person, an awesome skydiver. You were a strong, independent woman in this sport, more of whom we so desperately need, not less. I love how you didn't let any sort of public opinion sway your natural craziness. Your independence and ceaseless humor was inspirational and beautiful and fuck you for making me think you're probably laughing at me right now for writing this!!
Also, by the way, remember the skydiving song you taught me? I still sing it to my students, totally offkey, much to the chagrin of all my coworkers. Topless only with you though, babe.
So anyway, I'm hurting, not for you, because I know you're buying your case (and probably some brown liquor too) for this, but for me. My life will be missing an absolutely phenomenal element without you in it.

I am so sad to hear this has happened. My heart is just broken. Although I have never met her in person the emails I recieved from her during a bad period truely lifted me up. I wish that I had saved it. She truely cared about others even those whom she never met. Fly free.

Yeah. Same here. I never got to meet Shannon in person, unfortunately. But she has BS'd with me on here numerous times. Someone else on this thread stated that she had offered some helpful words during a tough time, and she did the same for me a while back during a tough time in my own life. She had a unique way of making me laugh about things that I tend to take a little too seriously.

She also offered to help a few of my bay area friends get into the sport of skydiving. Since I live in Southern California, it was really nice of her to offer her assistance in keeping an eye on people she didn't even know. That was such a cool thing for her to offer. It made her stand out in my mind as. . . . . . one of the good ones!

All I can really say is that. . . . . I respected her greatly. Her passion for jumping was synonomous with the way she pursued her friendships with others. In that regard, we should all consider ourselves lucky to have been friends with such a good person. I think she leaves behind a pretty damn good example of what it means to be a caring and considerate person.
