Lying next to you exactly one month ago today before falling asleep we had this conversation… you were about to head to Norway for another summer in Lysebotn and I said please be safe because I don’t want to get a call in a few weeks at some dumb hour of the morning telling me you’ve come off second best with a cliff… you just smiled and hugged me till sleep came to us both.

This morning I got that call…

I wish I’d had a bit more time... Coombesy you were one hell of a great guy and will be missed by so many people. I’ll look out for shooting stars when I’m peeing in the bush..xxx

This is very sad, my thoughts go to his family and friends. I met him the first time last year in Norway and met a a fantastic jumper who was at the same time simply a very nice, friendly and welcoming human being. I was looking forward to see him again this summer.

I jumped today at Brento and this jump is dedicated to Coombsey.

I am gutted, we have lost someone special and free. I was just talking about you 2 weeks ago Coombsey when Muppet and I were talking about when we used to hang out at the farm at T'wah.

Man I am going to miss you as are many others. You were a one of a kind and one of the nicest people I ever had the priveledge of calling a friend. I will always remember you tracking past me when I was under canopy one time, and that laugh!! That infectious laugh!

There are so many happy memories, and you introduced me to a good friend, and my hear goes out to her and everyone else that is close to you (you know who you are), I was gutted when I got the call from Cow and Tracey yesterday. What can you say but the world is sadder for the loss of truly a totally free spirit.

Only met you once but will never forget something you said...

We were all enjoying a few beers at the beach after a couple of you went on a sunset tracking jump at Byron...after watching some birds landing and taking off you asked the question...

"Do you think that birds ever want to put on human suits to see what it feels like to go for a walk?"

It was a funny question that still sticks with me and even funnier when I try to picture it.

Just came home yesterday to read the sad news and still I cannot believe he is gone. This is so sad.... That fjord in southwestern Norway will be a different place without Coombesys happy face and huge smile. I cannot believe he won't be there next time I'm going there.

We've jumped 3 way with you and Douggs in Voss and i founded my camera was swithed off, you said "Relax, that happens sometimes. You will film me next time."... i was dreaming about my next trip to norway there i could jump with you and Douggs again, or just hang around, trying to learn the way you're living your lives ....

I met Coombesy in Lysebotn 3 years ago when I was just starting BASE jumping and he was in Norway for the first time. We hit it off well because we had similar interests in things other than jumping. I thought of him as a world class BASE jumper especially because he didn't think of himself in that way, he gave everyone an equal chance and an equal amount of shit. Every jumper who met Coombesy in Lysebotn thought of him as part of that place. I could understand it more when he moved to Iceland by a strange coincidence and I could see how he looked at everything with an open mind and said, "where ever I lay my head that's my home". Coombesy, you are greatly missed by my friends and family.


When we went to Australia a month ago, he showed me how much he knew about and respected nature - I have never seen anything like it before. I was honoured to be able to meet Coombesy's family and friends and to see how everybody loved him. He taught me a lot about living life and not taking yourself too seriously.


Coombesy you made a big positive impact on my life and I hope that I returned the favour in some way.
You were the most pure spirit I have ever met.

I am Coombsey's mum thank you for all your support and kind words, I don't know anyone who didn't like him, especially women.
I can't believe he's gone. He was well loved by everyone. I wasn't happy with him jumping but I respected his right to do it and like everything he did he was good at it. I never saw him Base jump but I never saw him box either.
If anyone has any of his poetry or pictures you could email me I would be very grateful.
Don't forget to contact your loved ones and tell them you love them.
