Since the loss of a friend, I've quit base jumping, but as some of you know/see - I still post once in a while in here.. I traded a birdman suit for a paraglider wing, and now I'm looking for a harness... A cheap harness, just to get the thing to kite, and maybe a short flight. If you've got an old one I can borrow/buy/rent, please let me know.

If you had said "because of the loss of a friend", I would say that it´s a waste of time since your heart wasn´t into flying enough. But since you didn´t, I won´t.
Looking for a cheap old harness? Why on earth would you want that? Is your life worth that little?

As far as I know paragliding ain't golfing...

The loss of a friend was one of about 8 factors, it happened to coincide with the process of hanging up BASE. And, I said "cheap", not crappy... Money is a little tight, and if I can save a few bucks on a harness that someone has laying around (for instance, I've got a full body climbing harness... It's still in perfect condition, but I just prefer to use my Petzl Jump).

I am a paraglider equipment tech and you sound just like a guy tryinta save a buck where it is most needed. Why do you have a first class climbing harness? Apply the same logic already! Geesh!

Die by cheap old harness failure. That could save you megabucks.

You know Space, Yeah, You are being too hard on me, I really don't need the prophetic rundown like we give all the newbies on this forum.. Why do I have a first class climbing harness? Basically, it was comfy. The leg straps don't fuck my legs up like a super-duper lightweight flash jobby. The 8 factors... none of your goddam business. I didn't hear word one from you when I was trying to get into base... I don't need to hear it from you while getting out.

Long story short, my former employer fucked me pretty hard... I can't afford to hop outta them planes for a while, I've got a wing, and I'd like to fly it, if I can get a harness that'll work for a little while ( i.e. I don't need a caccoon, I don't need "uber-comfort"... I just need to be properly suspended) - then "yay for me". I get to paraglide for little more than gas dough.

Lighten the fuck up. It's a very simple question/favor. If you can help, great. If you can't, save it Freud.

this isn't that tough.

Sorry to hear you want to quit jumping. But if your heart is not with it anymore it is probably better to stop and keep the good memories.

Regarding your search for a harness: If you have not done so I would also search paragliding forums, for example http://www.paraglidingforum.com. As I live in Europe I do not know that many US paragliding forums.

From my experience, you can pick up a nice used harness for really little money. There are astonishingly many people out there who bought new gear after the license, did 20 flights, then had their gear lying around for three years and selling it because they realize they are not into flying.

Also, you might try calling some local paragliding schools, they could help you as well.

I really don’t think that I am giving you the the rundown. I don’t think that is something that I do that I am aware of. I think I am an anti rundown type of guy.

Then why did you not say this in the first place instead of what you posted? Do you want a harness that will work for say 50/100/200 flights give or take plus/minus 5 flights in memory of your friend??
Do you mean you want a sympathy Harness?

I can get you one but IMHO you should check out your motivation as to why you posted your post in that genre’ before I do

Which do you want? Me to lighten up or help? They are mutually exclusive. Tell me your dream and I can help you achieve it. This isn't that tough.

In some ways I feel guilty for pickin at your wounds. Even my wife gave me sheet.
But in the end I only want to help you and others and in this way I feel justified.

Congratulations for having the guts to quit. Maybe you and I should start the RBJA (The Retired Base Jumpers Association).
