Just curious. . . .

In the BASE flick "Rage" there is a scene from Bridge Day that shows an older guy. . . .maybe mid 60's, that jumps from the bridge using some old school, ripcord, spring loaded pc, skydiving gear. His canopy is mostly blue, with 1 or 2 gray cells. In fact, from the video it appears that he was even using a sail slider. Does anyone know who this guy is? Does he still jump? Do you ever see people at BD still use skydiving gear?

When I saw that I had to do a double take. Just thought it was kinda funny; the guy in the video is like my Dad's age (not that I'm tryin' to knock any of you old fuckers out there ) and he's throwin down some old school gear.

I'm gonna have to make it out there one these years and see some of this for myself.

Jim Poulson is as old as dirt, and he has been
jumping that spring loaded rig at Bridge Day for ever.
Come to West Virginia this October, he'll do that trick again.

(I've seen him jump modern BASE gear as well.)

I put that shot in Rage because Jim Poulson jumping that rig every year had kind of become a tradition at Bridge Day. Its entertaining to say the least, watching Jim jump a ripcord and spring-loaded pilot chute from the NRGB and sometimes have a hard pull to boot. And who said BASE isnt skydiving.

Excellent! Thanks for the info guys. I figured he was some kind of hardened verteran; nevertheless that clip is always entertaining to watch for those of us who understand the difference between BASE and skydiving gear. My non-jumper buddies always watch that scene and can never quite grasp why that jump is any different from the others!!
