Apparently Jason Bell should stand before a judge, according to Life magazine.
They explain BASE jumping as being illegal 364 days a year.

We all know that Jason is a strong advocate of BASE jumping. The rest of the world has received the impression from one ambitious Life reporter that he and all BASE jumpers are a bunch of suicidal morons.

I never believed for a second that Jason actually told the journalist in his interview that he was: "looking for where I'll impact if the chute doesn't open".

The media prints what they think their readers want to hear.

I was jumping a very popular site, and I caught my self waiving off before deployment (Why did I just open that can of worms?) And one of the spectators at the bottom of the tower asked: Dude...Like why did you waive off before you like pulled?" and My response was.." I wasnt waiving off, I was waiving my arms and telling you jackasses to MOOOVE!"

We already hashed this out last month, but allow me to add one last message. Talking to the media is a risk, even when you are dealing with trusted reporters. I've seen the good and the bad over the years. The media has helped me more than hurt me, but one thing I've learned is that you can never trust them. Be cautious. Warn them that you'll be talking to their boss if they turn it into a witch-hunt.

The best way I've determined to give them information is through emails and/or letters. It makes it harder for them to mis-quote you if it's written down. When they call you, write down all their questions and then take your time to respond via email.

We've got some interesting plans in store for the media at Bridge Day 2006. After the Discovery Channel tried to sneak in my boom truck basket this year, we are going to restrict media access into our area in the future.

I may just be dreaming this, but I'm pretty sure in the other thread about this he actually said that was what he said to them, because that is what he thinks about when he's jumping.

It's not a mis-quote, because that's pretty much what goes through my mind when I jump. And Bridge Day is already legal....

However, the media loves to extract certain parts of conversations and headline them. Sometimes, that's the price we pay for simply opening our mouths.

Yes, Jason. I guess you already explained it. This is pretty much what I was saying about the press.

Now that I recall the journalist was supposed to submit the article to you in its entirety for your approval before he printed it.

As I said, those bastards will leave their principles behind to entertain their readers.
