Not to hijack....but have you ever experienced the white loop being trapped in the brake setting cat eye when unstowing the brakes on a slider down jump with the LRM? Effectively giving you what feels like a brake hang-up??...anyone...anyone...?

Yes. 3 times. I played with the risers after each incident and eventually concluded that it was a problem with the riser construction (the white loop was too thick, and not slippery enough, although I am unsure as to what materials would be good/bad in this application). In those cases (2 different sets of risers, neither set made by a major manufacturer) I replaced the risers and the problem did not recur.

finally.. Yes, I have had that happen a few times. It only happened on Morpheus risers ( 2 different sets ). I have jumped slider down on 5 other sets of risers, and never had that problem. From what I concluded, the white loop was too thick. I videod the riser on one jump, and it is very visible that there's tension on the line between the tail and where the fingtrap meets the white loop - but there's slack between the white loop and the toggle. For now I am just making sure I bring both toggles down enough to free the lines, but I am planning on having thinner/slicker white loops installed on my fairly new risers.

For the record I have jumped the Morpheus risers slider down about 40 times, and I would say the problem was there most of the times. I have jumped BR risers slider down about 20 times - and I never remember the problem being there. About 3 jumps on god-knows-who-made risers - no problem.

it took me the whole ride to get the line out! by the time i had a good brake line, i was 100 feet from the north side of the river and crash landed into that tiny scree line, 50' up from the snake.

I thought about hitting the water, but it looked cold.

You've been having some bad luck with brake lines

Many, me included, have had hang-ups with pin type toggles too. The earlier ones needed to be initially pulled on a right angle away from the riser. Pull straight down like a normal toggle and they sometimes wouldn't release.

We took to calling these events "misses" rather than hang-ups, but I remember crawling out of the bushes and saying, "Yeah, those work good, we just traded one problem for another."

I love my Morpeus gear but have to say the white loop is a little to Beefy. It has hung up or at least "snagged" a few times.

I also have Morpeus gear, but (knock on wood) have never had a hangup yet. What do you think would contribute to a hangup?

Hello,

When releasing your toggles(using the Line Release Modification with the white set loop), it is imperative that you clear the brake setting. This is achieved by ensuring that the setting is pulled at least slightly below the guide ring. If your wing loading is on the lighter side, this situation can be more prevalent.

I used to use Zoo Toggles, and when I made the switch, I experienced hesitations in the brakes clearing. As soon as I modified my technique(un-stowing my toggles), the problem did not resurface.

I'm not sure about the others reporting this, but in the three cases I had, it was much worse than this. I actually had the white loop jammed in the control line, and it took a great amount of yanking (both up and down to the full extent of my reach) to clear the brake setting. This once happened to me on a freefall of that popular little cliff in SoCal, and I proceeded immediately to Perris to purchase a new pair of risers.

these two weird brake line things have been the only two jumps i ever did slider down.

All other jumps i have made have been either slider off, or slider up.
not that that is the cause, but i hate sliders.

Yes i did,thats why i dont use the regular way anymore,i rather blow a toogle and land rearriser(now i know that i can)

I've used CR's/Asylums risers exclusively for over 570 jumps and have never had a hangup or early release.
