im scouting out a site in my hometown, 450 foot outside climb, never been jumped.. its guyed and was part of a radio station that has sience been remved and replaced with oldfolks home... how can i determine the modulation (am/fm)and whether its still activ? thanks -b

Find the tower here. If the "Center of AM Array" field is blank then it's probably not an AM.

you could always cover yourself in goosefat then try tuching it with your tongue...also if its insualted or the cables are its probably AM
