Hey, I have a little project coming up in the UK soon and i really need some (Only really one or two) canisters of cold display smoke. does anybody have any idea where on earth you can get some in the UK????? It would seem that it is almost impossible to get hold of. HELP!!!

You can order it online through Paragear or other major online skydive stores.

Alternatively, you could use a bag of white flour. Some people have gotten good results with it.

Do a search for "smoke" on all forums and you'll find lots of useful info, like for example this thread.

I assume by your profile and avatar that you're talking about jumping smoke with a wingsuit?

If that's the questions, then there is a lot of info about jumping smoke with and without a wingsuit in these forums that you should check out.

I've jumped smoke with my BM Classic once without the best results. I used two red "cold smoke" canisters from Paragear (look at the "L1256 on this page http://www.paragear.com/templates/base_template.asp?group=156#L1256) They were fired at the same time and mounted on the same smoke bracket, but the visibility wasn't very good at all. as you can see from the attached picture.

From what I've read, you really need to jump hot smoke in order to get decent visability. The two problems are that obtaining hot smoke is next to impossible as a non-military person (not sure about the UK though) and jumping involves all kinds of risks. Heck even jumping that cold smoke made me a nervouse wreck!

For "Cool Smoke" you will want to go with Superior smoke available through Para-Gear and several other distrubuters.

You can also get a usable product through some Marine Suppy outlets...usually only in international distress orange but it's cheap and it works...

The demo team I jump with also markets an electrically fired 'skydiver' smoke with vivid colors, and good volume and duration...but it takes a specialized setup to fire them.

The can you have pictured is a distress/special effects smoke with a minute duration..LOTS of volume...

I just did a demo last weekend in my wingsuit with smoke. It was cold smoke from paragear... we had red, white & blue, although the red & blue were either very hard to see, or not seen at all on the ground. The white however was very visable.

Y'all, Para Gear won't ship smoke outside the continental US, and even in the US, only to a commercial address. I think that is the crux of his problem.

Is there some issue with getting another jumper to re-ship it?

These pussies would probably freak out if they found out you were trying to ship that stuff, but there may be some other way to do it.

Nah. Some of the Colorado guys tried that at the RG a few years back. I understand that the wind put the flames out.
