Why not use a tailgate on a small-hole mesh slider, or masking tape? As far as I know Vertigo is the only manufacturer that still recommends the slidergate and even that may have changed now that they have merged with Basic Research.

My Rockdragon slider has a slidergate loop on it, but I've never used it, opting to use masking tape instead.

I also recommend getting in touch with Adam Filippino if you haven't already.

Can you be more specific about what you mean by "slidergate"?

When you say "slidergate" I tend to picture the setup that Jaap describes, below, rather than the one he apparently is envisioning. Can you elaborate on which of these you are interested in?

I used the one Jaap is referring to for about 50 jumps on a Mojo 260. I have something like what Jaap is suggesting as the "not a slidergate" on a Mojo 240, but it's off right now (because the slider is removed).

I read your posts three times, but I still don't understand what two systems I am referring to. I'm describing something differently than what I'm envisioning?



I have seen four systems for reefing the tail (on top of what the slider provides):

1. The (Vertigo version of the) slidergate; a little loop on the trailing edge of the slider through which you can larkhead a rubber band. You put one two-inch bite (stow) of your steering lines (and only those, not the tail-C and -D lines) through the rubber band.

2. A tailgate, sewn onto the trailing edge of the slider. All the regular tailgate lines are put in it the same was as on slider down jumps. The recommendation is to only use this with small-hole mesh sliders, lest the tailgate entangle with a large hole.

3. Standard tailgate, not attached to the slider. Same rules apply.

4. Masking tapes. Same deal, all the regular tailgate lines wrapped in masking tape.

The first two that you list, is what I thought.

I had thought that #2 was the "slidergate", but I was getting the impression that you were calling #1 the "slidergate".

i was interested in option two really...just wanted answers to my questions in post one...cheers
