Dr. Evil's "A"
I’ve never jumped an antenna. Hell, I’ve never jumped anything other than a bridge and I won’t be for a while still. But when I look out my office buildings window and see this 971’ A up on the hill, I start drooling. So, Cornishe and I had a bit of an adventure this past weekend trying to get to this damn thing. We eventually found it but on the way home we (ok so it was a bit more of an “I” not “we”) chose to go a different way. After many miles we found the road to be closed. We turned around and realized we weren’t going to make it out of the mountains before we ran out of gas. Turns out Cornishe is not a bad driver (despite his driving record) and we were able to coast most of the way down in neutral and just barely make it to a gas station. We were a little disappointed that after all that work we found the area around the antenna looked like Dr. Evil's hideout and was guarded like Fort Knox. There was a security gate with a touchpad, lots of cameras and several buildings that looked like they were staffed 24/7. That and there wasn’t much of a landing area either. Oh well, it was a nice 5 hour drive in the mountains.
