Finally did it [:)]

After 2 years of thinking things through, talking to people and practising I finally took the course and did my first BASE jumps in Kjerag. I had the nicest two weeks in Lysebotn and I managed to log 6 jumps during that time.

Thank you
- Elin for a great course - all the good things I hear about you are true
- Julien and Mari for traveling company
- Jaakko for lending me his gear
- Aussies for a great time and advice
and
- To be mrs. Coombesy for the tits Wink

And of course thanks to everyone that have helped me on the way, Maretus, Tony, Mörri, Jussi and the rest who I neglected to mention.

/Aave

I landed on the alternative landing and was the only one not hitting trees... Laugh

There was about 100m of fog starting right at the exit point so I didn't try to follow the edge of the cliff straight away. I exited straight ahead and then turn when I was out of the clouds. There was no wind at all so made it pretty hard and my GTI was probably too small to really help.
I was already to far/low to clear the ridge but made it to about 80-100m close to it before pulling. Had time to make it safely to the alternative landing.

I'll be giving a try next time I'll be there :)
Hopefully with a bigger suit ;)

I did indeed do my first ever BASEjump from Kjerag (exit 6, "springboard").
First I took the jumpcourse that concentrates on terminal wall jumping.
Elin held the course and she is a great teacher and a very nice person, not to mention very beautiful girl.
Elin complemented me on good solid exits and tracking that was enough to get me well away from the cliff.

I practised for the jump beforehand by making 0-speed exits from a hot air balloon and prepared myself mentally by talking to several BASE jumpers in Finland. I also managed to make a test jump with a base-canopy in a skydiving gear.
The preparation took about 2 years.

As for the trip, we had reserved two weeks for the trip, so that we could get atleast some jumps in, even though some of the days were bad.

Lysebotn is a wery amazing place, cause it is in the middle of huge mountains, the scenery is breathtaking and the people there are just incredibly friendly and helpfull.

I can't wait to get back there Wink

Great work Aave. You're a good example of making great things come true with good preparation and solid background work. I wish all were like you, no rush, no hurry, knowing it will all happen when the time is right.

Re: [Aave] Finally did it [:)]
No need thank us dude. Vesa pretty much summed it up, you've shown the right attitude and approach towards the sport, you took your time to do your homework and think your things through, you took the time to make the skydives and train and train and train yourself for the job in hand. No hurry, no rush, just preparation and concentration that once at the exit point you would know that you are ready for it. It's been a pleasure to help you along the way and I'm sure it'll be absolutely sweet to jump together in future.

So once again, huge congrats to you and I'm very happy to welcome a guy like you to our small finnish base community (and to slightly larger international one too).
