So I'm looking to get into base, for lots of reasons:

*I'm tired of paying for the plane rides up. I am in flight training, I'm in the plane enough.

*hiking in the outdoors is so much fun!

*I'm just not interested in any skydiving 'discipline'. I do solo jumps mostly, not because I lack skill to do RW, I just don't want to do it. Freeflying hasn't ever been in my interest, and the crw jumps I've done haven't really 'done it' for me either.

* It'll impress my man, he wants to get into base but can't.

*everyone that does it says it's fun and I won't understand until I do it.

So where do I go? Can I bring my flask of whiskey or will that get me in trouble?

Find your experienced locals first, and get their advice.

Then, read whatever else gets posted to this thread.

From where you are, your best bet is to come out here for a FJC. Then go home and jump with the folks there. It would be best, actually, if you could get them out here for your first jumps, then spend a couple days building currency with them around.

Other than that? All my advice is linked at the top of the page. I'll not bore you by repeating it.

I know some people that own huge amounts of property in (censored) that has a tower on it...it's 591 feet agl. I bet that's tall enough to do something.

I'll ask somebody around here if they would take a look at it with me.

Although, they do have a barn in that field...and a trampoline.

Edited to add: but thanks for the PM's and info. That was awful kind of y'all, so if I ever do lose my dang fool mind and want to do a base jump, I will definitely call upon you very generous people.

I dream of base jumping though! Really! I just can't do it. Cheers to all of you that can, but skydiving is the farthest walk on the wild side that Lady Jaye can afford.

I think you're missing some history here, but don't worry about it. PM me if you're not getting it.

When the time is right for you, some of us would be happy to share an exit point with you. Just don't rush into it because it's a lot more involved than skydiving. But it can be a lot of fun if approached the right way.
