Is there any agreement about this?
Plastik tube, with 2 attacments?
External or internal?

What about 36 F111 ex handel, 42 ZP AV Ex handel and a 48 Zp no Handel as a basic settup?

I don't really think there is much agreement on this.

Your spread of PC's (36 f-111 external handle, 42 AV external handle, and 48 no handle) sounds fairly good.

Given a wider choice, I'd probably go with an unhandled 42 and a floating handle on the small PC. A ZP apex vented small PC will likely last longer than the 36 f-111, but functionally (when newish) I don't think there's going to be much difference.

Personally, my "full spread" is (all PC's are ZP):

32 A/V (external handle) for terminal.
38 A/V (floating handle) for wingsuits and subterminal long (5+) delays.
42 A/V (no handle) for most things.
48 (no vents, no handle) for low stuff.

I'll probably switch the 32 to a floating handle soon, but haven't done much terminal non-wingsuit stuff lately.

Definitely have a look at the floating handle, as I think it's a good improvement to PC design.

anyone got any thoughts on whether plastic should keep its place on pilot chute handles?? in my home country all plastic reserve handles for skydiving have been mandated out of existence. Just thinking of the situation where the well weathered, sun exposed and/or very cold plasic handle breaks before or during pull...and Murphy dictates it will happen when some poor bastard decides to hum it a little.......paranoid? moi?...yep...and it has served me well. This thought was provoked by video of aluminum pull out handles.

Floating handels from Asylum/CR?

What about size for terminal, bad ass tracking with Track suit from PF?

Floating handles are made by Asylum as standard on some sizes, but you can make your own fairly easily. There's a fair bit of discussion in some old threads in this forum, so if you search you can find it.

For terminal, with max track, I'd probably use a 36 or 38, but I'd feel pretty comfortable with a 32, too. If you're just trying to keep the number of PC's down, a 36 f-111 should be fine for wingsuit or track jumps.

Do most people jump handles once they go to terminal? Is this because non-handle pilot-chutes expose too much fabric, and run the risk of coming loose prematurely at terminal speed? Or is it because they're worried they might not find it otherwise?

I actually liked the non-handle pilot-chutes I used off the span, but never thought about how they would translate to a terminal environment. I feel like I'm missing something obvious . Ah well, I'm just excited because I finally got to skydive my new base canopy after six weeks of consistent rain .

Usually, that's it.

Internal and floating handles both have the handle "wrapped" (however temporarily) in the fabric of the PC. This might increase the drag (and hence chance of a premature).

Using a standard PVC handle (with just the handle exposed) actually increases the chance of the PC (and handle) disappearing entirely within the pouch, if only just.

I have a floating handle on my Asylum 38" AV ZP PC. After playing with it for a while, I came to the conclusion that I don't really like it so I just took it out. The way I pack my PC, the 38 gives me a nice, positive grab without the handle floating inside. I use a super mushroom on all my jumps and I don't see a way to make the internal handle useful while packing like that.

I do like an external handle on the 32 though. Just be sure the handle is secured at both ends in a way that the bridle cannot get hooked under the end of it, or tie off around it. I think the best way I've seen this accomplished is to use a PVC tube secured to the apex by passing a piece of webbing through the center and tacked down on both ends.

Hackey handles are BAD in BASE.

No handle on my 42 and 46" AV ZP pilot chutes. All my PC's are from Asylum.

I'm very close to Tom's set up (all Z-po):
