Europe Mapping Software
I'm looking for mapping software, kind of like Microsoft's "Streets and Trips", but for use in Europe.

I'm working out an itenerary for a "European Vacation".

Specifically, I'm looking for a route planner that includes Italy, France, and Switzerland. The program doesn't have to have GPS or topo, but that would be great bonus since I'm considering a GPS purchase as well.

I tried to get "Autoroute 2005", but no one sells or ships to the U.S.

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

P.S. I'm not trolling for exit points. I already have those. Wink

thanks,
Z

Re: [Zoom_739] "Autoroute 2005"
Do you have any friends in Europe who could send it to you?
Try the UK BASE Board, they are usually pretty friendly.
I know some European BASE jumpers, PM me.

Keep in mind, I do not have streets and trips,
and I've never heard of autoroute 2005,
just taking your word it exists.

If it is,
and you want it,
and are willing to pay for it,
there is a way to get it.

I use Garmin MapSource European. It is a pretty complete mapset and easy to use. Pretty big but very nice. You can get these things off of ebay pretty cheap. If you have a Garmin you can DL the mapsets to it using this program. I use an Etrex but other Garmins are nice too.

Thanks for all the feedback!

I'll probably look at the "evaluation copy" of MapPoint. Wink

Route 66 looks like a program that I wouldn't mind shelling out bucks for. But if anyone has a "PC-demo" they could FTP me....Tongue

The online direction websites are nice for directions. Not very handy for my planning needs, but I'll be using those sites now instead of my ol' Mapquest link.

thanks again to all...Smile
